Back in 2002 I planted the back yard, where I cleared an orchard, to yellow birch. Picked the seed catkins in the fall 2 years before, stored them at the provincial seed centre and had a nursery grow the seedlings. Planted 500-600 here. Others I planted on the woodlot were lost to wildlife browse. The moose will pay a visit to some of these trees in the after dark hours. But, they have managed to survive pretty good. ;D

Solid green, won't be too many more years and the bottom of the crowns will lift enough to see underneath like park. :)
