Title: Ash Veneer logs
Post by: woodsy on September 17, 2010, 07:01:42 AM
Hi there, I'm new to the forum , well at least posting, I've been reading it for several months to a year+.

What range of prices are people currently paying (or getting) for White Ash logs.  In particular, veneer logs with either 1/3 or less heart, brown heart, and prime sawlogs, all 20-24 inches in diameter.  Prices in the Northeast would be most helpful but it would be nice to hear about other regions too.  Thanks.

Here's a price list from one mill in the NE:

They don't have their veneer prices posted, but you could call them.  Prices vary between mills.  A lot depends on what sort of lumber market they have.

33 years in the logging business and I have never sold a ash log to a veneer buyer. But it wasn't because I didn't try  ;D
