Title: Band Mill songs
Post by: music_boy on November 13, 2003, 05:30:27 PM
Tonight the wind of the Nor'Easter blows,
Makes the trees sway to and fro,
Hopin the wind blows real hard,
Blow down a tree in someone's yard,

Me and my mill will soon be there,
Haul my mill from here to there,
Hey there mister that tree's no good,
Walnut ain't nothin but trash tree wood,

Tell ya what mister, tell ya what'll do,
I make it lumber and haul it  for you
Naw naw, don't pay me a thing,
Glad to doit , don't want no jing.

 :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
O.K. y'alll join in and sing
"Honey all I wants' your Spalted log, Or I want be your man at all,
Honey, let me have your Spalted Log."
 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

The motor hummin and the blade a spinnin
these are the things that keep a sawyer grinnin
just to see that sawdust floatin through the air
 Ill take my sawmill anywhere

The cherry the walnut and that grade log of oak
theyre better cut into lumber sted a goin up in smoke
when the wind blows down that tree, enuf to make you cry
Ill cheer ya up when my mill and me stop by

youll rarely find a sawyer with a frown upon his face
insted youll see him happy as he opens up the face
quarter saw, slab cut dont matter much to him
cuz he's got that motor runnning and listenin to that band blade spin

Honey all I wants' your Spalted log, Or I want be your man at all,
Honey, let me have your Spalted Log."
love loadin up those boards and  cuttin up logs

Ok...next verse:

 got lumber to my Left
Logs to my right
I'm goona be sawin em all d**mn night

Im not complainin , just wanted ya to know
I just happy making sawdust and listen to that motor go
Swing blade ,pit saw or a big circle mill
They all make that sawdust and they help pay the bills

Theres very few things that I can think of
thats better than millin up a big ole log
Lovins from my woman and in the woods with my dog
Is right up there with -a-sawin up some logs

The beauty of it all is wakin up in the morn
knowin I got friends on the Forestry Fourm
Readin the posts while sittin and -a chillin
But we all got 1 thing in common
WE ALL LOVE MILLIN!!!!!!!

This little "ol song" is from the Oregon Sawyers wife, Julia, who is a musician in real life, a music teacher, but to be honest the topic of sawmilling does not release the creative juices flowing for me to write a decent song that rhymes. But here goes (it's the thought that counts and maybe you will see that some of us wives like what you do, but just don't expect US to WANT to do what you are doing nor do we (I)necessarily WANT to WORK with you!) Loren is SOOOO patient. He has the "gift" of patience. (our joke!)   ::)

(Here goes, I strike the chord on the piano, key of C, 1,2,3,4,1,2, ready go)
"Now I don't mind my husband buying his toys, his mill,
I don't mind old Loren sawing away until
He's too tired to walk, His crotch is raw and stiff
As long as he doesn't expect me to participate in this "trip".

See, my man is a dreamer and he loves to dream and plan
That's fine with this wife as long as I get something from it
I've had his four children, I've waited patiently
It's about time I'm getting my house built
It's about time I'm seeing the rewards
For in our 25 years of marriage HE's been the one with all of the toys.

For years the toys were guns and then came the retail store
So I truly did rejoice when he bought the mill for I realized I'd reap the benefits more
Now please don't think I'm being selfish
Don't think I'm being rude, But the truth be known I'm happy that he's sawing and hopefully this time he'll make some real serious money!

In general I like the men who are sawyers
I like their eccentricies (hey, Frank!)  I like their creative minds and their abilities in sawing trees
I love seeing my man looking filthy, I love seeing him break into a sweat,
I'd rather see him working hard any day than laying on the couch or placing a poker bet.

If there is one major gripe that I DO have, it would have to be this,
That somehow my man thinks that we women should be as strong as he is. I may be a farmers daughter, I drove the combines and tractors too. I trained horses and moved irrigation pipes but my body has its limits too.
My man is  6'3" tall, close to 285# but boy he gets impatient when I can't lift that 8 x 8 x 20 as easily as he does.
If you want to get me angry, if you want to make me "miffed",
Suggest to me that I should be out sawing and "pulling my weight" when I already work fulltime shifts.
I'm a hard worker for a woman, close to as hard as they come, but don't expect me to be an ol workhorse or to enjoy the thrill...

That "thrill" of hearing the sawmill go "whrrrrrr", the "thrill" of smelling the fresh cut cedar logs. Although, I WILL thank God each day that my husband has the ability and the drive to have built our "small abode" which I will enjoy living in next summer."

(I'm now smiling as I'm playing the grand finale on my piano!)
key of G, Key of C...hold it out for 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 cts).
