Title: Winches
Post by: Keltic on November 27, 2003, 10:19:51 AM
I'm toying with the idea of an older skidder for messing around on my own property, any hints? Any winches to avoid? How about the   gearamatic 18?  I hope to go diesel if I can, but I'll have to see what comes along, thanks and thanks for the good info in the other threads . FMK

For a truck or skidder, I think diesel is the way to go. It is much easier and safer to transport and an idling diesel engine uses a lot less fuel than the same sized gas engine. Though, if it was -10 outside everyday, then a gas engine might have an advantage if you are going to be turning the truck off.
