Yup, crossing a bridge on the JD and rubbernecking is not the thing to do. I drifted off of the runners and busted 5 treated 2X12's. Thankfully there were some Black Locust boards that I climbed back up on before the tractor went down on it's belly. Now I gotta rebuild a certain bridge. I have some more Black Locust.

That could have got you hurt. Glad it's only some planking that needs fixing.
Rubbernecking this time of year is so easy to do! The rain has finally stopped here and we had our first fair weather weekend. Went out on the lake and caught a couple of trout. We just took our time driving and boating to just be outside in the sun and warmer air. Very nice.
Glad to hear you did not end up in the drink :o :)
Thats what happens when you are busy hollering "Hey woodchucks! Quit chucking my wood!" ;)

:D :D :D..... DanG woodchucks! Sure hope the cover on the bridge fared better :) Sure looks like that could have been worse than a hung up tractor, glad to hear all turned out ok.
At least you didn't hit yer head! :D :D

I finally got around to fixing that broken bridge. The Grandkids will be 4-wheeling Monday, and I didn't want any mishaps.

The old broken decking had to come off.

Pilot holes had to be drilled through that 2" White Oak decking.

Too many boards on a too small of a trailer will cause it's own mishap. :-\

All is well with new bolts and large washers.

Good as new. :)
Looks a mite dry there.
You are right about that. If you fell in, you might get hurt, but you wouldn't get wet. :-\
Looks sturdy enough now, MM, and we're having the same problem with too little rain- my creek has been dry for weeks now, and the grass is going brown and crunchy again. It recovered a little a week or so ago with just enough rain to make it think the drought was over, but no such luck. Looks to be one of the hottest and driest summers in years. :(

Second hottest June in the last 119 years that records have been kept in these parts.
MM, that was a very close call. Remember, they cannot do head replacements like hips :).
Makes me wonder why there was treated pine there to begin with, when you had access to black locust ;) With white oak and locust I'm sure it will be fine now.
I built my bridges in 1984, long before a sawmill was in my life. My preferred bridge decking is Black Locust, but this White Oak came to me as "free logs".
You did good son. ;) Nice little bridge.
