Title: Id my wood #1 puzzled.
Post by: shelbycharger400 on June 06, 2011, 06:34:50 PM
Ok,  need help with 3 different pieces.  I will post them in 3 different threads as to not confuse people.
I picked up a load of firewood at the compost site  other day as usual,  and i come across all three of these specimens often.  Nough said
#1.    Rather soft cutting,   ignore the black marks ( my bandsaw has carbon guides and this wood is really wet)
it browns after a day or so on the heart wood, sap wood stays a light white. .     the leaves were from a smaller piece of this tree.   and Yes  i took a lot of cuttings , so hopefully some will root.
twig wood is light redish brown.    has a very slight sweet smell

heartwood almost looks like red oak without the flecks in it,  the sapwood is much like popple.
