How do I upload a video of falling a tree Amazon style ? Is it possible it is about 2 minetes and is 123 MB.
If you don't already get yourself an account on ytube. Upload the video there and put the link in a post here.
Thankyou, I have not done that but I will try.
Once you have taken the video go ahead and give it a name or rename it and save it to my documents.
This will make it easier later when youtube asks what video you would like to upload.
After you have set up your youtube account.
Click the upload button and you will be prompted to select the video you would like to upload from my documents.
You will see the upload progress and will be able to view after a few moments of finishing and processing.
While youtube is playing your video go ahead and copy the address bar in the address window.
It will look like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lhIbMX4vGb (this is a sample link, it won't work)
Paste the address in your post window after writing what you want us to know about it.
Let me know if you need further assistance. ;)
We are not in Mathatten here and my problem is that it says I have 740 more minetes to load it on You Tube, I can do it by email after midnight if someone can post it there. Lets see. It is our 46th wedding anniversary so we will be going up town later and let it do its thing.` By midnight I will know.
The other problem with this video is that it might cause some heart attacks up there. It is a beauty but normal here.
I also have a good one of them cutting the log into cants as well as others.
It shouldn't take any longer to upload then it will to email Jim. Either way the data has to be sent, plus, that file is way to big to email. Any system would refuse it.
I use a free little program call "MpegALot" to resize and convert all my clips into mp4 format before I upload them. Youtube are going to process your clip, resize and compress it after it's uploaded anyway, if you do this yourself first it will be a MUCH faster upload.

Just using the mp4 format shrinks the file as it has much better compression algorithms than more other video formats.

Thanks, that may be the solution.

Let us know when the upload is done. Sounds intriguing. :)
Still trying to download a program to reduce the videos. Every time I get almost done they cut the lights or we have a heavy rain and lose the connection. In the Amazon one needs patience.
I finally got it loaded. Each step after I figuered it out with http://mpegalot.en.softonic.com/ took about four hours. And it is only a little over a minete.
We run at 17 to 30 Mbps.

That's pretty fast. Do you mean kbps?
It says Mbps, whatever that stands for and is sloooooow.
It may be 17mb to the local exchange, but being in a remote area, what's the main trunk out of town rated at, and how many connections share it?
Could be you can send a file to your neighbour at 17mb, but out of town, only a fraction of that...

Ianab :
Anything is possible. I dont even understand what I know about the internet. When I really am stumped I call over the 10 and 12 year old from next door to get me in order.
THey usually tout what the download speed is but not the upload. upload is usually way slower.
Try this and see what it says.

Ping 1267 ms

Upload 0.02 Mbps
Download 0.17 Mbps
Like Lightning , no ?

The long ping time would suggest a satellite connection, shared with 1,000 others?
As there is no road or rail access to the outside world I don't imagine there is a high speed fibre cable running through the jungle?
That leaves satellite, microwave or carrier pigeon.
Ian
I think that speed might be closer to passenger pigeon.
Quoteshared with 1,000 others?
The poor pidgeon is serving hundreds of internet cafes and thousands of homes and offices.
I forgot to mention this. I pay extra for this special service , $60 a month. This is the box behind my desk. This special service is called "Speedy". 8) It says discover the best of the world with "Speedy".

Maybe it's all the translating that is slowing it down, Jim. :D :D
