Just getting prepared a couple days ahead of time. I'm embedding the video feed in this post. You will be able to watch here when we have the camera on-line. So far so good on the weather forecast hope it holds true as it's a lot less work if we don't have to set up a bunch of awnings for rain. Warm for here, but should be cooler for our southern friends. :)
Thanks for setting this up, Jeff.
Cooler is mid 90's and lower. Cool would be mid 80's and lower.
Do I need to bring a jacket for evenings?

Do I need to bring a jacket for evenings?
Nope shorts and a tank top should be fine. :)
Pay back for your little board gag the other year. ;)
They are showing low 60's at night in the forecast.
I think everything is relative. I about Froze to death last time I went to Florida.
You might want a jacket, but I think its going to be perfect and a real breath of fresh air for everyone as we have been in the 90's as well. 91 right now at our bank.

As you are setting this up so much in advance, don't forget the facial recognition technology so that the thread can identify for us those in attendance.

Would you settle for name tags? ;D
Sure Tammy. But why go cheap? Why not have every FF attendee wear a T-shirt with a number and their name printed across their shoulders, like a football jersey? :D

Because we are cheap. smiley_smug01
I hope it means more money for food, drinks and door prizes. :D :D
Here is a blast from the past. From our First Forestry Forum Gathering. Back in August of 2003. We are standing in front of the statue at the CCC Museum.
Any pig left over?
That one was not a pigroast. It was a picnic where the Forestry Forum had an invitation from the state of Michigan to join them for the 100th anniversary of State Forestry. Those of us there consider it the first pigroast although technically it was not. Several of us met up here at our house the night before, just like we still do to this day.
I'd like to add, that everyone in that photo other than two, is still an active forum member. One that was not a member then, but was the father-in-law of Whitepe which he still is, and the other is Mike P's grandson which he still is too. :)
I was going to test the video feed this morning, but the weather is kinda crappy. Tomorrow we'll be mowing and getting the yard ready to start moving in tables and the food awning and stuff like that. Thats when I'll probably put the camera our for awhile. Burlkraft arrives later today. He's my right arm this year. :D
Wish I could of been your other right, my left aint to good ::) ;D
Ya know, for us stay at homes, a walking line up would be cool. Say, 11:00 have folks line up and walk past the camera, stating their board name.
It could work. 8)
"Hi, my name is _______ and I also post at the Forestry Forum." ;D
Maybe we could have a soul train theme and they could come up through the dance line with a name tag.

OK, just canceled my trip! :D
Na the eye ball on a stick is a lot of fun. First you look at the lap top it is plugged into and see who the stalkers are that are watching. Then you start talking about them around it. ;) Unless Jeff turns the mic off then it's no fun. :(
Hey, I can see RaiderBill in Black Face, getting down 8)

Maybe you need a hand mirror frame for the intro ductions just like they used on the 80's kids show Romper Room & Friends :D

I did notice dat even with da poor lighting, I did seem ta have a bit more hair back den. :)
Sure do wish I was there for the festivities. Marcel don't catch all them trout! You can come help me bale hay and saw logs.
Have fun everyone! I plan to be there next year. 8)
Fish, how the heck are you baling hay and sawing logs with all this rain? My well drilling has been put on hold cause it was too wet to get the rig in.
We had the video on a bit last night. Early arrivals are Pineywoods, Magicman, Raider Bill and Burlkraft. I suspect by evening today there will be several more. :)
I am going to try to make it today. I am not sure I remember how to get there and Marcel is not there to call for directions. :(

It's been tough. Rained most the night on hay that otherwise could be baled today. Just before the rain began a short log truck brought some big SYP.
Jeff, looking forward to the video, have fun.
Looks like Steve is walking around - gray shirt with no sleeves.
Bruce
Yes, that was Steve. Close up and .......... (can't say). :)
He should get a five day suspension for doing that to the camera.... :D :D
I've done lots worse things than that and gotten a lot lighter sentence than that ;D
Kent you are a pretty harsh sentencer. :D
NOT FAIR!!!!!! Camera so far away you cannot see or hear what's going on, I know there are some stories being told, lies swapped, and snappy commentary about those of us not there. ::)
The sound is not on to protect those without audio governors. There is really no one here yet other than Steve an a couple neighbors. We'll move the camera around and add some audio when there is something going on.
If we have time. :)
You want some cheese with wine zzzz_smiley
Can you pipe in some of that pig roast smell while ur at it?? Like some kinda "Smellervision"????
A merlot would be nice.
No Wine, but Raider Bill brought Bleu 8)
Hey Tex Put YOUR HEARIN' AID ON also , some eye glasses will help ya out some too.
Bleue I taught him well ;D
Does anyone know how late the festivities go on at the pig roast. I have to work tommorrow but I'm fairly close to Jeff's place, I thought of running up there after work. I just don't want to drive up there just to watch everyone leaving. I could probably make it there by 5:00 or 6:00 PM.
There will be folks there till dark. Not like he runs em off after the food is done. ;)
When is Reddog gonna get there?
In honor of the pig roast weekend, my wife served me pulled pork sandwich last night.
I may go out and get one for lunch today....... ;D
That is a brilliant idea Jim. I'm in! :)

It did happen and there is no way that Jeff and Tammy can be thanked enough for hosting this event. The Pig was awesome and there were plenty of fixin's. The fellowship was a meeting of old friends, some of which had never actually met each other, but the instant connection was obvious thanks to the fellowship that is enjoyed each day here on the forum. I can absolutely say that everyone that extended their hands in friendship are friends for life.
Here are some pictures that Pat and I took. I'm sure that others will add theirs.

Thanks MM, I don't tweet or fartbook so I couldn't see what was going on up there. Have a safe trip home.

You thought that was where it was happening?
Just got back a couple hours ago. Had a great time and lots of good fellowship. Raider Bill put us in stitches with his story of the intruder goose that scared him so bad the goose .... Well, you will just have to listed to his story sometime.
The pig was fall of the bone tender and full of flavor. The baked beans had an interesting flavor this year. Whoever made the blueberry desert needs to make it again next year. Oh man, it was good. Chris brought his accent from Australia. It was fun listening to him talk about the Mozzies they have.
I sure brought lots of great memories back home.
Thanks MM for the pictures.
Thanks Jeff and Tammy for another great pigroast.

This was my first FF Pig roast, hopefully the first of many. It was great to meet so many forumites, to be able to put a face to a handle. I got there kinda late as I had to work saturday, but I still met many people. I am very glad that I decided to make the drive up there. When I first got there I saw OWW sitting on the porch, at first I thought it was DanG. I remember going to ask someone if it was him. Jeff took me over and introduced me to MM, OWW, WDH, Piney woods and I think Pigman, so I knew it wasn't DanG. Jeff and Tammy did a fantastic job setting things up and keeping things going. A big thanks to them. The best thing besides meeting everyone was the great stories, WDH told a few as did Meadows Miller. Heard a few from Cedarman, Raider Bill ( yes I heard the goose story), MagicMan,Furby, and Dan Shade. I'm sure I heard many more Just can't remember all the names. Thanks again to Jeff and Tammy. Thanks to all of you who shared a story or just an introduction, in getting to know you. Bill
W. Monger,
It was great to meet you. Unfortunately, you came after I had my fit of picture taking so I did not get you on film. Missed Furby too, but Magicman captured him nicely.
When I looked across the yard and saw that person with the long beard, I first thought it was DanG, but I knew that my friend was not able to make it. Then, I thought it must be an alien impersonating him. But then, I realized that Swamp Donkey was not going to be there too, so that pretty much eliminated the alien angle. Turned out it was a retired Robert.

Bushed !! 2 full 12 hour days of driving to get home from the pig roast. It was definitely worth it. Jeff and Tammy are super hosts, even to the point of cobbling up an imprompto birthday party for Mrs piney. Thanks again. Stopped at a truck stop near St Louis and watched the fuel pump roll up to $241, OUCH. The RV is unloaded, but everything is in a pile on the dinning table. Pics and video will follow when I dig the cameras out of the pile.

We missed you, JV!
Dan,
We really wanted to come. Looks like everyone had a great time as always. I've been fighting back issues since December and didn't think I could make the drive. Next year one way or another.
;)
JV,
I missed seeing you as well. I trust that Copper is doing good.
Since the Pig Roast Pat and I have been taking day trips and seeing some of the sights of Northern Michigan. Monday was the Traverse City area in Northwestern Michigan. Yesterday was Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island. Today was the Eastern tip of the UP.
This afternoon we had a very nice visit with Jeff at the cabin.

If dem bars don't get ya, there's dat hand bitting tree ta look out fur. :o
I figured I was looking more haggard then I do after 5 hours of brush hogging trails. :) Thanks for taking the time to come visit. I enjoyed it. :) After you left I got my birthday present out and went down to my property and cleared some deadfalls from some of my trails. While sawing I had a birch top crash down about 40 yards from me in the wind. I decided then and there to take the rest of the day off as it was 7:00 PM anyhow. :D
Here's the link to a rather un-sophisticated video of the pig roast. Maybe someday I'll have the time to learn how to edit videos :)

Thanks for posting that video. Great to see those attending and the pig, the bit of rain, and the many who helped Jeff put on the 2011 pig roast.
Today, had a surprise when I showed up at the Rox for lunch. There sat OWW and Linnea on their way through WI. Was great to see them again. A good thing I had the chance to see OWW's pic on the cabin stoop in the rockin chair, or I'd a thought DanG, I don't know that guy holding out his hand. But then couldn't miss pretty Miss Linnea by his side.
That OWW gets around.

OWW and I are the same person. He is the left half and I am always right. ;D
He gets a good one in once in awhile. ;D ;)

Missed Furby too, but Magicman captured him nicely.
That's a feat in itself, as the Furbster often tilts his cap or steps behind a bush. :D
Thanks Piney, good video.
Good job Piney,thank you.
Thanks Piney. You made a very nice "web-cam. ;D

i wonder why when someone asked those guys carving the pig if they got a pan full yet that no one could answer them?

Here is a photo that we forgot to post. We were sent this flag from a forum member so he could be there in spirit. It hung on our flag pole during the pigroast. I'll let you guess who sent it. :)

That's a first :D :D.
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole get-together. Most memorable event - Raider Bill's goose story. Wouldn't be the same without Bill telling it, so I'll just leave it alone. :)
Great event and thanks to all for the pics and keeping the rest of us in the loop.
Pineywoods, you made me chuckle again thinking of Raider telling that goose story. :D :D
Thanks for the video Pineywoods. Almost as good as being there. Good looking pit guys. We do a vertical roast here at home with a ice cream motor for turning. And a freind of mine does a Hawaii theme with it in the ground.
