Title: Bids - How and where?
Post by: edkemper on October 31, 2011, 01:52:44 AM
How would I go about getting bids on my trees? South Central Oregon. Second growth lodgepole pine and some aspen. Level high desert solid land.

What should I expect?

What to ask for?

What about the stumps?

What about the slash?

I appreciate any guidance offered. :P

Contact a private forester in your area. Tell him what you want and expect from the finished job. If you don't have the experience with putting timber out to bid let him do it. It will make you more money in the long run.

And don't be afarid to ask plenty of questions. Ive meet a number of foresters over the years that it's all about money and on the flip side theres some that lean more towards a tree hugger. So don't be afarid to talk to a couple of outfits and then your have a fell for the fellow that looks at it about the same as you do.
