...and say hello!
Been looking around for a few weeks now and soaking up as much info as I can, I'd have gotten on sooner and asked a few questions already but so much seems to be answered just by doing a few searches. :P
Living and working in Northern California at the moment but planning on a move to Washington State as soon as we can. King County has approved all our building plans for the new house and garage and now I just need to find some time (and $$$) to be able to build. We cleared what we had to just before the end of the year for trees and I had the guys leave behind what I felt I could handle for milling. Wasn't sure what I was going to do with it but I wanted to leave something to put back into the house.
We'll, found a good deal on a 2006 LT15 last week and am in the process of catching it up on some past due maintenance. Thanks to much of the insight found amongst you all here, I felt this was a good match up for my needs and obviously a strong backing by WM. They were happy to estimate a market value and run the S/N just for peace of mind since I am the fourth owner...if I posted the picture correctly (and I know you guys like pictures) you can see the makings of a new trailer next to the mill...I think I should have had them leave more logs because I think my capabilities may be growing already!

Thanks for everything to this point and I look forward to getting to know you all better in the near future!

Welcome to the forum, and nice looking LT15. Can't go wrong with a Woodmizer.
I have one and it is a real workhorse. That one looks to be in great shape! You will love it.
Good evening Clean Image, and Welcome to the Forestry Forum. Soon your "Image" will be covered with sawdust. :)
Welcome Clean Image, I like your handle. Nice looking LT15. I have a LT10. My first desire was the LT15, just could not afford the price tag, so I had to settle for the LT10, but it has served me pretty well so far.
Welcome!
Welcome to the forestry forum clean image. Nice find on your mill!

Congrats! ...and I see some steel laying there, are you going to build an extension? If so, good call because cutting out past 20' sure makes my 15 a lot more useful.
Welcome
Duane
Welcome to the forum. Your LT15 is same year model as mine. You will love it!! Sounds like you have put your lurking time to good use figuring out what mill to buy. Keep us posted on your progress.

Clean Image the reason we couldnt see you was for the forest. Welcome aboard and good luck with your 15. You are on your way to a very good life with sawdust in your veins. Good luck with your venture. bg
Welcome Clean Image and good luck with your ventures! Have fun with that new-to-you mill and enjoy the rewards that will come from owning and operating a mill ;D
welcome to the forum! 8)
i'm sure that lt15 will will bring you plenty of joy, and who knows soon you may be looking for a lt40 to feed your addiction.
Welcome Clean Image. Good luck with your mill.
Question..."The land of fruits and nuts" Are you talking about the local produce or the local people? :D
Welcome, Clean Image.
Glad to have you on board.
Do you plan on milling all the lumber and building the house yourself?
PC
Appreciate the warm welcome guys!
Got all the replacement parts in today from WM...missing bolts, felt pads, worn out belts and a few filters later we should be in business or at least in sawdust! I figured the best way to get to know this machine is to start with the spark plug and work my way from there!
Parts came in for the trailer too...all that should keep me from getting any real work done for the rest of the week...I'll try and post a few progress pics of the trailer build.
As far as the house goes, we're building with SIP's (Structural Insulated Panels) so most of the framing is part of a supplied package. There should still be plenty for me to do to cut the interior and exterior woodwork.
For the most part I've been working with steel studs and setting machinery for way too long now...it'll be good to get back into some wood and find a creative outlet (along with getting to build a new home for myself and a much deserving wife).
Thanks again...questions to follow!
Duane
Oh, and a little "tree porn" for those that are into that kind of thing! :D
Clearing a few trees for the house...no that's not me up there
