hi,
In the next few months I plan to build something to keep my logs off the ground as I bring them out of the Woods. My spread is relatively flat and about 24 acres with a decent trail network, and I will be pulling it with my tractor or possibly Jeep yj.
I had been thinking parbuckling on s small trailer but recent posts make me wonder if a mousetrap style loader might be better.
Then of course a good sized arch might
Be better yet, so interested in your thoughts.

They each have their pros and cons.
But for snaking logs through the woods, I think an arch is your best bet.
Once you get to your landing, I think the DanG-Deadheader will be quicker for loading lots of regular sized logs onto the trailer. For the really big ones, though, parbuckling is easy on the winch and your other equipment. Parbuckling doesn't require any expensive setup , either. A couple of 6x6's and a snatch block for the winch are all that's needed.
Considering my spread ain't that big and that my landing is where my sawmill is, an arch may be the best option for me...
