Title: new belt adjustment, LT40
Post by: postville on March 07, 2012, 09:15:10 PM
I am close to getting a new belt adjusted properly. Maybe you all can hurry this up.
Followed the manuals instructions plus got a tip from a WM tech. He said to rub the belt with bar soap to help it while it breaks in. He said the belt should creep at about an inch per second while the clutch is out.
The belt still seems too loose as there is slapping against the upper belt guard near the motor pulley, when the clutch is disengaged after cutting. This will stop after about three seconds. If I slide the break adjuster down to tighten the belt any more, it won't creep.
Does it take a while to break in a new belt and get it adjusted right? Bob

The drive belt on both my mills would slap against the belt guard. I live with it ;).
