Anyone out there use a demolition hammer with a spade bit for a debarker? I have a log wizzard and it works well for cleaning logs of surface mud and my pressure washer does a fair job too but can still leave sand imbedded in deep bark pockets so I am looking for something that will cut the time of completely peeling bark off of irregular shaped logs. I have a horizontal double cut bandmill and cut in both directions on very irregular shaped logs or I would go with a mud saw. I am thinking a 30 lb electric impact hammer with a sharpend (and maybe extended length) spade (or clay) bit should do the trick. Also thinking about peeling lots of logs for a log house some day. Thanks for any feedback. Gary
:o Yikes !!! I am glad that I am too old to find out.
Gary, try it,I fear it may tend to dig in.I've got a nice pneumatic Sullivan demolition hammer and a good air supply but never thought of trying.Probibly a blunted edge on the spade would make it more controlable. Frank C.
I have no idea where you are,but here in Maine they are peeling mighty fine right now.
