Title: 2012 Pigroast video Feed and photo thread
Post by: Jeff on August 01, 2012, 09:13:58 PM
Just getting prepared a couple days ahead of time. I'm embedding the video feed in this post. You will be able to watch here when we have the camera on-line. :)

That's a fantastic Idea Jeff 8) will it be recorded in case one is not able to see live?

Post by: Jeff on August 01, 2012, 11:02:43 PM
There can be sound, but sometimes that is not a good idea. :)
It is possible to record snippets, but the likely hood of remembering to take the time to do it is highly unlikely. Things just get to busy.
If you have sound....will it be like the OLYMPICS and out of SYNC? :D :D :D :D :D :D

I have the camera on. Probably not much to see today other than if the rain holds off, some mowing and other activities. I know some members will begin arriving late today. I'll try to keep the camera up as much as possible. When there is more going on, I'll move it somewhere else. :)

That really is an excellent location for the camera, because even though the two people in the back yard aren't moving at all, I can tell it's still "live" and working, because of the waterfall, fish swimming, and every now and then a slight breeze moves the roses. :)

We have the pigroast table set up, but its raining now. You may be able to see the light rain hitting the water with the fish. When it quits, we'll start setting up awnings. I hate awnings, but the weather just looks to fickle to go with out.
gspren and wife have arrived from PA. They are camping on the south end of town and stopped by to see where we were at. :)

We found that keeping just a slight trickle of water into the pond keeps the water a bit cooler. The water falls over the rocks on a sunny day evaporates a crazy amount of water.
We had quite a few people come by and help today. Almost as many people as we had on Fridays at the early pigroasts. :) Truly appreciate the help. :)

Still on pig watch. Had some flare up issues I never had before after trying to incorporate some more wood smoke. Things have been stable for the last hour so I'm going to try and get a couple hours sleep. It was nice this year, as Furby has been here keeping me company. Usually I'm the lone survivor by this time. :)

Lot more people and action today. Got a good shot of Jeff's back and then his right side profile. I can pick him out of a lineup now.

These boys are enjoying the stick bowling, and interesting to see one (Tamiam's son? with the mohawk haircut) pace off the distance from the stick at rest, and then the distance to the starting point and another point to aim at. Appears to be the radius of the arc that the stick on the rope swings through. Pretty successful at knocking over the stick. Maybe the design engineer growing up in the family? or the professional bowler. :)

I got a kick out of the stick bowling earlier. A taller youngster tried to knock over the stick for about 10 minutes with no luck. The Mohawk-wearing youngster took his place and was successful on his first attempt. Naturally. :)

Then, the young mohawked LogRite son nailed it seven times in a row! Incredible. 100 people (mostly older people) had taken a shot at it, and three hit it. That is 3% for you math majors :). After all the festivities were winding down (and after Weekend_Sawyer had absconded with the prize), the youthful LogRite Mohawk ArtistScientist took the stage and showed everybody else up ;D.
DanG to be young again :D.

Jeff, Just wanted to drop a few lines to thank you and all your competent recruits for making the pig roast a memorable event my kid and I won't forget. He had actually been saving for a Lava Lamp for a while now, but he won one yesterday, so the Lava Lamp money can now be transferred to his I-pad (or is it pod?) fund. The Pig Roast is like a family reunion that one actually looks forward to attending. We're already anticipating next year's event!
David (PostonLt40HD), My son ended up with one of your knives. Your (now his) knife is now #11 in his collection. He and one of his cousins have both been stagnate at 10 knives each for almost 2 months now, so he is incredibly happy that he has pulled ahead for the time being 8)
Thanks again to all involved- from the facilitators to the pork pullers to the prize donators.

Yea, doctor says he can get rid of the longitudinal ones but if they were latitudinal I'd be stuck with them....
It's a slow start Monday. I'm sippin coffee and reading my first Huskey manual and grinnin. The grinnin has been going on for 3 days ;D Did you ever notice that if they took out all of the warnings owners manuals would be about one page? I kid you not there is a graphic of a guy cutting off the branch he is sitting on. Guess some folks need practical advice. ::)

Wow, that was really close. What you didn't know is that I was sitting at a table of experts who analyzed every play and gave advice on how to better stack them sticks. 8)
I'm too old and should know better... but I don't. ;D

Jeff does an outstanding job of securing door prizes which add much excitement to the Pig Roast festivities. Many thanks go the the manufacturers, sponsors, and members that contribute to this afternoon fun event.

I'm in the process of uploading and adding video clips to a special embedded youtube playlist viewer. So far I have about half of the 76 clips uploaded. I'll continue adding them to the play list. I'll embed it in this post, as well as the first post in the topic, so you can easily find it later as I add the rest of the videos. All the clips are from the door prize portion of the Pigroast. I hope you enjoy watching, and please just ignore the old fat grey fool with the nervous hand gestures. :)

Here is a companion photo to go along with one of the movie clips. On the clip, you can see me taking the photo. :)
That's funny. I was asking because I have a small smoker and 2 grills. I am always interested in how people prepare a whole pig. There are 100 different ways. I watch that show on TV, BBQ WARS where they have a contest to see who smokes the best Pork. If you tell me your secret, I will up your 50% to 51% when I win the Powerball. ;D Trust me. ;)

Moxie is a nasty soda. ;D Moxie is not a sweet soda, probably why I don't like it. But others like it and enjoy it. Just the same with with g...s. As long I'm not forced to have it, I don't care if other enjoy it. I think it was so called invented in Maine? Libon Falls even has a Moxie day or week each year. Maybe in June. Google will probably bring it all up.
JohnM beat me to it. I was changing the post as you typed. It came to me what he meant.

Ray, I think 'Freddy' meant what is Moxie. (correct me if I'm wrong, Freddy...or disembowel me, whichever) And to answer that question: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moxie
Think Dr. Pepper on steroids. :) (I think ??? it's awhile since I've had either ;D)
