The weather man said we'd get less than an inch yesterday morning. Temp was right near freezing and most of the frost is out of the ground so the first few inches melted. By afternoon he said that we'd get an additional inch of snow. We got somewhere in the 8-10" range, Sioux City in NW Iowa got 18"s. We had just finally started to get the ground to firm up so this will set us back at least a week before ground work can get started. Pic is hard to see but there's mallards on the pond going what the heck happened to spring.

spent last week on the couch ( felt like" itsha").... cut 800
feet of 4/4x4 red oak for flooring yesterday and had a pretty good day, was feeling pretty good until I saw the FREEKIN WEATHER REPORT........ got a foot of the white CRAP on the wayand im PITHED OFF I was suppose to have 200 feet of that flooring on the way to the kiln for Thursdayand that doesn't look like it will happen..... Wow now I think I'm feelin the fever !!!!

Well it's not all that bad lanab, it is pretty and the nice thing about it this time of year is it won't last long. I'll bet you get tired of all that blue sky and green grass, how about you come up here next winter and I'll go to your place. ;)
The wet snow sticks to everything and looks neat, last night at dusk the horse and log dog were out playing in it, definately a Burl and Ivves picture. This morning on my way to work I snapped a shot of the farm house with fresh snow on it.

We had an inch of the white stuff yesterday. The birds sang right through it- saw a pileated woodpecker 2 days ago- and it smelled so nice and looked so pretty! It reminded me of one Easter when we had about the same amount of snow and my parents did our Easter egg hunt in the snow. I hadn't thought of that in years! It was a big deal to me- I might have been 7 or 8- felt much put-upon to do an egg hunt in the snow- :D :D :D - but it evidently sowed a long-buried memory that surfaced yesterday- the sounds, sights, smells- how well Easter eggs stand out in their bright colors against snow but how easily they can be concealed with a skift of snow put over them.. We walked the bounds and marked them Sunday, fixed fence saturday- pasture hasn't melted enough yet for manure spreading or discing. Trees are growing. lw

Well the white stuff is here about 7 inches and its still snowing.
Went out and plowed .... 7 neighbors @ $ 40.00 a wack all done in an hour and quarter........Hmmm i guess snow aint always that bad..... if it keeps up like they say it may I might have to plow again, and I charge the same every time i hit the driveway..... :o I guess im feeling a little better now....
Patty just lets me in to fix supper Haytrader, look over in the travel guide and you'll see where I sleep. Chickens and I both go to bed at the same time. ;D

That's really a nice house. Do you have a heated garage where you could keep some guineas for awhile?
It would be quite a shock to a guinea or even a people to go from the lovely Ozark weather that we are having to all that snow and wind and cold in Ioway ;)

I'm happy to report that spring has sprung in the Arkansas Ozarks. The hills are alive with the new. Went ridge walking Friday and found a copperhead out warming up. Gave him a little nudge with the boot and he didn't move so I went for the camera but he was a little shy and went back in his hole. More red and grey squirrels than I have ever seen. There are reports that the fox squirrel is disappearing but not this year. The only thing I didn't find was ticks which are unusual but not missed. A boat ride found the white bass staging for the run up the river arms and they should start next week. Afternoon thunderstorms are starting to occur more frequently.
White oaks are finally starting to louse last year's leaves. The hills are white with blooms from this little tree and the redbuds are starting with there first pink blushes.

By afternoon there was water running a bit as the sun warmed the snowbanks and started them melting. The fields are likely to be mostly bare by early next week.

Dang that's a pretty picture Larry, the weather report has it getting into the 50's this week and maybe even the 60's. I told Patty I'm tired of being cold all the time but stacking wood in the shed last night I'd rather have it cold than hotter than you know where.
Mike I was standing at the doorway to the shed last night and all of a sudden whew what's that smell. Yep skunks have come out of hibernation. :D
