Title: slowness
Post by: woodmills1 on November 08, 2012, 06:12:10 PM
my computer is not the newest or the best

yet I think I have a slow problem with the forum

did all my own checks and tune ups but the FF is taking nearly 10 seconds to respond to each click

You need to dig deeper. The forum is buzzing along. Look at the bottom of any forum page to see what the page creation time was. It averages in the huindreths of a second. Any time to load larger than what that number at the bottom of the page is, is something other than the server.

Spyware and having background processes will slow down any computer. MAke sure you only have a few programs running at one time and that there aren't others running silent in the background. For PCs, its under Task Manager.

How long has this been happening for you?  I recommend a program called "ccleaner".

I make a rule to know what's being updated. If you are on dial-up like me you'll wonder why the pages load slow on your end while they get fetched off the server lightening fast. The only software I have not done the manual update, now that I think of it, is Noscript. It is automatic, just got an update yesterday I guess because when I opened the browser it went to their update page. Sometimes you forget such things. ;)
