I couldn't imagine living in a house with bats under my roofing!
Looks like they'll replace the tile roofing with something that can be sealed!
I know I would if it were me!
I liked it! Just not in my roof!
And I thought that I had a problem with a half dozen of the little stinkers this Summer.

They leave the park each night and go out to feed in peoples gardens around the city. These are the big fruit bats, they have almost 3 ft wingspan and weigh a couple of pounds. Luckily they roost in trees during the day, not roof cavities. :D

With my luck, if that were my roof, they would probably be an endangered species of bat & I'd be in trouble for disturbing them.
Bats have to live, too :).
There are plenty of bats around my place, but I've never found where they roost. Maybe I don't want to know! :o
Bats love to park it in the daytime underneath loose bark. That is why leaving some new dead trees standing and why it is great to have some loose bark hickory around.
White birch to. On some trees it goes into big curls and if out of the heavy wind, probably makes a good brooding spot. Crawl up into a tube like home. Although I have never seen any evidence of this being a good bat home. But that doesn't mean they don't use it just the same. ;D

Luther here wintered in my for shop a couple of years. Didn't seem to mind me working around him at all.
That's funny Slabs.......a Bat named Luther. :D :D :D That's good though, had ya a little buddy watching ya work! :)
I can't explain where I came up with the name but I just name everything. Ol' Smokey my IWB, Ol' Red, my tractor, resident Barred Owl - Lord Throckmorton, et cerera ad infinitum. Keeps things more personal out here alone in the wilderness.
