Title: Saw?
Post by: Knute on February 22, 2013, 09:33:07 AM
My saw works fine in an upright position such as blocking etc., however, when I tip it on its side to make a felling cut, it smokes and rpms go down. This sounds like it is getting too much gas in that position, but not sure which part to check.

What make and model? I would suggest having it pressure tested, sounds like a seal problem.

Check the boot between the carb and cylinder head.

How clean is your air filter?
Being that its smoking tells me its not a lean condition.
What saw is it?
Maybe case gasket is leaking bar oil into base?

Check the boot between the carb and cylinder head.

Wouldnt that create a lean condition? He said its smoking
