BigDogPC has suggested a gettogether of Southern members, this spring, and several of us have jumped at the opportunity.
It has been moved and seconded that the above-mentioned shindig be held at Harold's camp near Palatka. We ain't voted yet, though, so that is tentative. It was also suggested that it be either in late March, or late April. March will be cooler, and Harold has plenty of old logs from the river that we could make a bonfire with. ;D
This is gonna happen, folks, and it's gonna be fun. Make your suggestions and plans now. More details will follow as decisions are made.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
At least let me check with the owners of the camp and see what arrangements they may have for long distance visitors to stay overnight or 2. ::) ::) Going up to the camp on Sunday night. Will report back in soon as I can.
Got some info for the "Southern Connection" to kick around.
There are 2 mobile homes at the camp. One has 2 bedrooms and the other has 3. They SHOULD be empty by the first of April. There will be plenty of spots available for those that have a motorhome. We are working on nightly rates. More on that at a later date.
We will have access to the screened in Pavilion and the Pig Cooker. There may be a few campers there that might wander in. I told the owner, anyone in the camp is welcome.
Being as how Dan will be away for the first 2 weeks in April, we might start planning on the 3rd weekend or during the week is OK by me. We are always there. ::) ;D ;D
What say, guys ??? Who brings what and how much???
Sound's great, Harold! 8) 3rd weekend(Apr 17-18) is good for me, or during the week is OK, too. Linda works every other weekend, and that is an "off" one for her, as the schedule stands now. She really wants to come with me! 8)
How about some input from some of the others?
Talked to the "Boss Lady" at the Campground, on Tuesday. She said the 2 mobile homes should be empty and available, if anyone needs housing for a day or two. She is getting a rate schedule figured for us.
We are not at the Campground, but, at a job, sawing. I will check with her this coming week and report back.
We also got some new info on where a few NICE logs are supposed to be laying on the bottom. (2 years ago). That should make a good "Show and Tell". ::) ;D ;D Y'all bring yer dive gear :D :D :D :D :D
My off weekend for April is 10 11 12, But I aint but one person schedule it when is best for wverybody, and I'll come if I can
DIS GON BE FUN SHOOOEEE!!!
I'd have trouble with that one weekend a month stuff. I'm havin enough trouble with the one weekend a week stuff. :-/
I hoid dat, Jeff. I'm thinkin' about workin' weekends and takin' the rest of the week off. ;D
Hey, Dail! I assume you get days off in mid-week. I don't think we're tied to just weekends. We might could schedule in the middle of a week. Most of us down here are old fots that don't have no regular job, or got fired for settin' the help on fire, and that sort of thing. We could probably do it just any ol' time we want to. ;D :) :)
Yeah I do get days off in the middle of the week, but never mor'n two at a time. Set the date,an I'll do what I hafta.
I'm workin on it. Gotta co-ordinate with the Campground.
Jeff,
I have problems with the whole GP thing,I'm workin on it
DanG Dan mama dont know i got fired fir settin that cuban on fire ...i told her they jus didnt have that much more work ta
do..oh well she wants to be there for the git together so i guess she'll find out sooner than later..lookin forward to see in
ya'll again..i'll start see in what i can come up with to chip in for eats...and weekend of the 17th sounds good
Hey Jwood,
How'd that cuban burn? We got a fleet of mexicans at work, and since I'm at the boiler ,if they burn good,I could save GP some $$$ on the fuel bill. ;D ;D ;D ;D
Woops! Maybe I shoodent have mentioned that unfortunate incident. :-X As I understand it, it wasn't the actual Cuban gentleman that combusted, but rather just his britches. Now I can just imagine that if you was to convince a person of Mexican heritage to give up his britches for the sake of GP's farwood budget, they would probably do a fine job of conflagratin' from what I've observed. I imagine, however, that with all the booze you would have to invest in the project, you might be better off to just install an alcohol burner.
Here's the latest from the Campground. We will have access to the Pavilion and probably the kitchen attached to it. Just gotta keep things neat and cleaned up.
Prices for RV's with 50 Amp hook-up are $25.00 per night/ 2 people.
There will be 4 seperate units available, ranging from RV's to Mobile homes. Prices are $50.00 per night/ 2 people. $10.00 extra per person, over 2 people. On these units, a $100.00 deposit is required and refundable if the units are left clean, as when they are rented to us.
They are looking forward to having the group, and I suspect that the setting will be attractive to visitors in the future.
NOW, who's bringing what??? We have access to a Pig Cooker outside, and there is firewood, if we cut it. No big deal. Even OAK ;D ;D ;D
Anytime after the 15th of April is open. What say, guys???
I'm waiting to hear a date for this swamp thang...
dail i didn't set da man on fire just his britches, although he looked like he was smokin pretty good as he went up over the railing of the bridge . when he came back with the boss man
he looked like he was wearin knickers..
Hey Jim, what's a good day or 2 for the gathering at the Swamp???
Fla DH most weekends after march 14 are ok ..there was one post about april 17 ...i dont have a real job so i can take most any weekend or week day...but remember if we are camping the skeeters will get worse as it warms up..heck we've only had 4 days of short sleeve weather an they are aready gettin bad here..april 16th an17th sounds good..how bout some directions to that place your talkin about..i'd like to drive over an check it out..
Sure, Would you come over on 40 or come in from Palatka???
fla. i would be coming from palatka but if ya think 40 is easier
directions i cld come that way
Palatka is easier. Go through Palatka and stay on 17 South. About 8 miles or so, there will be a stop and go traffic light. Road sign says Welaka to the right. Turn right, that is Hwy 309. Take it through Welaka and right on down through Fruitland. Don'T blink in Fruitland. You might miss it :D
About 2 miles South of Fruitland, there is a fairly sharp left hand curve. RIGHT AFTER the curve, there will be 4 Propane Ball tanks and Foam balls, all paimted BLUE. THAT is Riverwood RV Park. Turn in there and cruise around. The office is at the end of the road, on the River.
Let us know yer schedule and we could meet up at the campground. We will be sawing another 2 weeks in San Mateo, on the Widow's logs. Then, we picked up 4 sawing jobs around home, and we have some mods to do on the mill, so we will take it home, to Sebastian, for a couple of weeks.
still confused here about a date on this thing but i can bring all the firewood and more than a few sawlogs if someone wants to get a debate about sawmillls going hehehe
I was thinkin we about HAD things organized, then everbody went an DIED ::) ::) ::) Ain't heard from nobody, even after I posted dates and "spenses" for lodging.
We are going to take the mill to Georgia, very soon, and do some house pattern sawing for an X partner. Be gone fer 3 days, total.
Also gotta go and bury the Mother-in-law. She died just before Christmas. ::) ::)
GOT logs :) :) :) :) :) NEED MEMBERS ::) ::) ::) ::)
Guests are welcome, too ;D ;D :D :D
FDH, Apr 16-17 is fine with me, or any time after that. Since you seem to be "hosting" this auspicious occasion, I think you should have final say on the date.
Has anybody heard from BigdogPC? Last I heard, he had to move his mill :'( and he ain't been seen since. ??? He was the one who suggested this thing, to start with, so we oughta do what we can to make sure he can be there.
Dan, we will be working there anyway, so, the date is wide open. We are going to Ga. the last 3 days of Mar. We have to go to Jersey the first week of April. Other than that, ??? ???
Been waiting to hear from Jwood, BigDog, Tom, Rusty, BillBob, Crosscut, and you. Any guests reading this are welcome too, I wood assume ??? ???
Sumbody needs to say sumpin ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
I'd love to come, but my truck won't make it. :-/
Well, I said sumpin. ??? ::) If it don't make no differnce to you, and nobody else has said sumpin, shall we just make it Apr 16-18, then? Somebody's gotta make a move. :) JWood was gonna zap a hog, and bring some fish, but I got a nice, fat billy goat that will fit on a grill. ;D
Well then, That's IT. April 16-18.
Believe I'll pass on the grilled Goat. MIGHT could get another Hog. Know some Hog hunters that usually have a surplus ;D ;D
Furby, they got aerio plains where you live??? We gots flat grassy places here, and some even have that Black tar topping ;D :D :D :D
I'll bring a couple o sacks o taters. If I manage to go fishin I'll bring some catfish. I am figerin to sleep in my truck if need be since I ain't sure how long I'll stay...ain't never had no roasted goat...
If I hafta sell my mill can I still visit?
DanGit, WHY would ya hafta sell yer mill?????????
We need to talk ?????????????
NOBODY has to sleep in their truck. We got arrangements worked out.
Yeah, we have them plane things, but the only way I can get one........... well lets just say if I try that well the f b eye will be all over me. ;D
In other words: No cash bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CALLING ALL MEMBERS---CALLING ALL MEMBERS
Who's plannin on making the Shindig we have planned ?????
I Don'T like all this quiet stuff. SPEAK UP ::) ;D :D :D :D :D
April 16-18 ? I'm planning on it.
Don't know about two nights away from home but we'll see.
What's this thing gonna cost? I need to know how many days I gotta stand at the expressway exit with my sign to get ready. :-/
Spenses are posted on page 1.
Now they're on this page too. :D
NOW, who's bringing what We have access to a Pig Cooker outside, and there is firewood, if we cut it. No big deal. Even OAK
We got us 1 jen you whine wild hog, about 75# to brew up. Anybody else readin this thread ?????????? ::) ::)
I'm reading it but...........................
It sure don't sound like anyone else is. :-/
Hello, is anybody out there?
Well I am but ya'll knew that. :)
I figger to be there, provided I can find it. What do I need to bring?
BigDog, still got yer mill??? Wanna saw some NICE Cypress or Heart Pine?? Bring yer mill. Bring food. We needs LOTS of food. Tom is coming. :D :D :D :D
We have the 1 small hog. JWood was offering a hog. You offered Taters. We can cook everything we need on-site.
If anyone wants to get in the water, bring yer mask, we got the Duct Tape to cover the lens with :D :D :D
There are grocery stores 8 miles away, so, we can make a run once we get set-up.
Mostly, right now, we need a list of those that are definitely gonna show up.
Bring them Mills and Planers and Skidders and whatever else ya can drag over. Jeff could bring that there Draggin Saw. We gotta have FARWOOD
Well............... since Jeff is going.............
Hey Jeff, if you see a big furball with a sign along I-75 on your way down, will you give me lift? ;D
Taters is easy, I figerred this thread was gettin slow so...what else should I bring? Ain't been fishin...well....been fishin, not catchin...Still got the mill but it is basically in storage since I haven't found a place to run it yet (it's still hiding outside Ocala). I haven't cut stick one since we got shut down. The guy storing it has cut enough pine to build a small tool shed and that is about it.
OK, how many folks are gonna be there? How many days are they going to stay? We are firming up this outing a little late since the input has nearly died here... I would suggest everyone bring their own beverages, I would plan for pooled resources for an evening meal each day of this gathering and the other meals would become each individuals issue.
If all else fails...every meal will consist of poke and grit...
Poke yur feet under the table and grit your teeth.
Ya'll have my input. I'll be there with taters ...
DanG said sumpin bout Slaw. Beans is always good. Dogs & Burgers can be had at the grocery or whatever. I'd figger mornin and Noon would be whatever-wherever. We can have bonfires in iron rings, at each campsite. The evening meals can be at the Pavilion. That's where the cooker is. We can re-heat in the Pavilion Kitchen.
There's a nice dock to fish from. Don'T know about catchin from ;D ;D
Time staying depends on who wants to do what???
Be careful pokin around in any culverts, lookin for food to grill and such. See this site for some exciting table items.

8) 8) 8)
Never, never, never,,,,ever, ever, ever,,,,,will I be sticking my hand or head in a culvart, shoot, I might not even get close enough to look. I'm not scared of snakes, or alligators, as long as they're over there, and I'm over here!!!!! But I ain't gonna be prowling around in no culvert. Not after seeing them pictures!!!!!!!
Them are just pets ;D :D
Dat's one big snapper :o. Hope they used good duct tape ;D.
Good thing it's too cold for them up nort here.
Jason
Well I'm glad I joined this forum just in time for this hootinanny! I will be there Saturday for sure. I've dove the St. Johns many times. I call it brail diving.....zero visability! Is that a log or the back of a 16 foot gator? I don't like it at all.
Just be sure it's NEXT Saturday. What're ya bringin ta eat ??/?:D :D :D
the 17th right? I can bring what ever to eat. What is being brought and what is still needed?
YEP, the 17th, and the 16th, and the 18th, if'n we all can stand each other. :D
So far, we gots 1 75# Hog, some taters, some slaw.
What ever ya tote will be used, one way or another.
Other guys have offered , but, ain't heard from them, lately???
Reckon you can find the place??? We will put some signs at the corner of 308 and 309, across from the Handy Way store & gas station.
Last chance I get to post before the Shenanigan. It's this weekend coming. We need paper plates and utensils. I HATE them DANG "Sporks". ::) ::)
Maybe Tom will get involved with answering questions. I asked him today, but, no reply, yet. Meanwhile, I will be in contact with home and can have Teri field some questions.
send me a plane ticket and ill bring the beef, just need a halter to tie round the runnin gear :D
I plan on gettin their Saturday.
Who is coming?
It's about time we got a head count, don't ya think?
I'll be there! I just got in from Augusta and found everything a mess. Wife's car is broke down, weeds is high, etc. Got a lot of work to do first, but I plan on arriving Fri. afternoon.
Tom, PM me with FDH or Swampy's cell phone # if you got it.
Anybody heard from Jwood? ???
Looks like the menu may be somewhat impromptu, unless some folks start talkin'. :) If it don't come together on this thread, we can just wing it. I'm quite sure we won't starve. I can cook a little, and I know Tom can. Harold lives in the swamp, half the time, and he don't drink beer. He's been padding his front bumper with something, so I figger he can at least boil water. ;D Ed can do ANYTHING! We be OK. :)
I'll grab some plastic forks, etc, if someone will bring some paper plates and Solo cups. We can pick up some sweet tea and other stuff locally.
I hope lots of folks will be there, but I plan on having a good time, regardless. ;D
I'm figurin' to be there Friday....probably early. I got taters and will bring some can goods. If I don't forget, I'll bring some paper plates. We won't go hungry since there IS a store near by...it's gonna be fun!
Howdy ya'll...... This is Teri..daughter of deadheader and sister of swampy. Here is what is available at the campground.
1- camper
1- motorhome
2- 2 bdr. mobile homes. (I think we are getting one of the mobile homes.)Everything is good to go. 8) 8) 8) Anyways.. I'm fixin' up a batch of homemade baked beans. I heard that choclate chip cookies and brownies are being brought. Thats all I know for now. If ya need any more info. just let me know and I'll try my best to answer even if its wrong! ;D ;D ;D
Well I'll be there for sure Saturday afternoon but will leave that evening. I'll bring plates, cups, lots of sporks, chicken, and what ever else I can think of at the time. Do they allow us to drink a cold beer or two in this park?
I don't see why you can't have a cold one or two. :)
You got a death wish or somethin??? If you bring sporks I sure feel sorry for ya. ;D ;D ;D ;D
Oh yeah forgot to mention before, there is lots of room for everybody.
I think the best sporks are the ones you'll get from KFC. They're so cheap they bend as you push them into your mash potato's! I'll see if they have any surplus/reject sporks we can have for this shin dig.
Accually after Fla's last post, maybe I should bring stainless?
Dad called today and I told him you was gonna bring sporks. He said if you do, you was gonna go swimmin for a looong time. :D :D :D
If you want to stay dry,DON"T BRING SPORKS ;D ;D
Teri
Alright, alright...I won't bring sporks. I'll just leave my surplus of rejected sporks here for a rainy day. I'll bring some other brand so we can eat. I'll bring the bathing suit just in case though!
Hey everybody.... If any members or guests are gonna show up this weekend for the cookout, heres some directions if you are coming from the south or in the area...Take 17 north to cresent city and go thru the town till you come to a blinking yellow light and turn left.308 sign to welaka nat. forest go to the end and look for Forestry Forum Cookout signs. The place is Riverview Park. There is Blue Propane bottles at the turn in. ALL MEMBERS AND GUESTS ARE WELCOME ;D ;D IT'S GONNA BE A BLAST 8) 8) 8) 8)
See ya there ;D ;D
No word from the swamp yet? Still shenanigan'n maybe. I wonder if they had any fun while in that swamp?
To busy wrestlin gaters.
Beenthere: yep, nope, yep.
Jeff: nope
I would have to agree with Dang, yep, nope, yep, nope. ;)
BigdogPC was there.
Tom was there
Terri was there ;D
dadgummed stuff keeps disappearing 'n movin' around. :-/ ??? ::)
rvrdiver swam by
Deadheader was there .......... pretty much.
Oh Yeah, I think I saw DanG too. He was trying to get the fire started again when Harold let it go out. :D
Welatka had a burn ban on. How in the dickens can you cook a hog with a burn ban going? :-/
Jeeze, I never saw that Fla crew with so little to say :o :o
They musta got all talked out this weekend :D
They know we are very anxiously waiting for pictures and details and are just teasing us >:(
Lets pretend that we don't give a DanG ;)
It's Harold's fault.
I don't give a DanG ::)
I'm personally IGNORING yall until yall decide to come clean!!!!!
I'm thinking about pretending I don't give a DanG, right along with Bro. Noble.
??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
BigDogpc snores. :o
(I'm still ignoring yall!) 8
DanG is tellin' tales...I may snore some but he generates hurricanes! The walls of the trailer could be seen reverberatin' from his snores!!!!
I can't speak for anybody else but I feel sorry for all ya'll that didn't make it. I had a great time!!!!!
That ain't snorin'! I got sawdust in my blood, and I was just dreamin'. ::) Sawing in my sleep. Yep, that's what it was. :)
Better not ignore too much. We're just full-a secrets that somebody's gonna spill accidentally one of these times. Like Harold forgittin' the hog ........and when he tried to butcher it with a spoon...and Ed spillin' soft drinks all over the floor .......and breakin' the home mizer ......and Dang runnin' over the cord to his winch and when he broke his controller 'n BigdogPC runnin' off with all that propriatory information in his hip pocket 'n Harold shoing off some of his gold coin collectiont to rvrdvr and listen'n to rvrdvr talk about all the treasure hunters he and Harold both know and want'n to see the collection of artifacts that rvrdvr forgot to bring 'n his new Oscar 'n the wood he bought for shed to put over it ...an I ain't sayin' nothing 'bout the chair I broke Somebody might mention 'bout those party crashers with the vertical home-built mill down the road that came with all them women and ate all the food and finally gave up on convertin' DanG .......and those slabs of sweet gum DanG stole from Harold's wood pile and the dump truck side board that Ed hid under the wood pile.......and that golf cart that ran off with a half ton of live oak. .......but I'm not sayin nuthin'. Nope! Nuthin'! Yer gonna have to pry it outta those other guys. Terri might let it slip about everybody scarfin' up on her baked beans and 'tater salad 'n I don't know who made those chocolate chip cookies....and nobody saw DanG slavin' o'er the bucket of cole slaw........ but I ain't sain' nuthin.
OK, I'll slip
this'n in but
don't tell I
did itHarold had to wear that hat 'cause he washed his hair off (https://forestryforum.com/images/03_21_04/shindig02hrldhrn.jpg)
Don't worry guys it will all come out 8) 8). They just can't keep from bragin. I can picture them setting holding their breath trying to keep from spillin the beans :D ;D
(https://forestryforum.com/smile/afro.gif)
Ha(https://forestryforum.com/smile/big-grin-1.gif)
Ha! :D :D :D
8) Hey, don't forget about us ladies now---------we had a good time too & we ain't talkin either.
Even the kids had a good time :).
Our daughter Elizabeth made the choc.chip cookies, she was the one drivin around in the golf car knockin down trees 4 the guys to saw up. And our son Timothy was more than happy to help clean up ALL the food(if u know what I mean)& he ain't talking neither because we bribed him with food :D. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
All in all-------------- everyone had a good time.
THE MRS. ;)
DanG........it was FUN!!!!! YeeeeeeeeeeHaaaaaaaaaaa
I personally liked FDH's eagle and his fancy chain but...I ain't sayin nuthin!!!!!
'course the DanG winch job...well......never mind
How 'bout them sporks????? :D
I only have one question for the folks whut was there...whut was the mystery log? I missed the opening...
Aw-w-w man-n-n!
You should have seen it. It was a semi-spalted sweet gum hunk, probably close to 40 inches at one point. DanG stole a bit of it from Deadheader. Swampy helped him put it in the truck.
They didn't know it when they started but it was a crotch. Some of the most beeyoootiful stuff came out of it. The center will make a great table The ends were split pretty bad and had black and grey stain in it but the middle was nice. It had some flat-head borers in it too. They won't last long now that it has been opened up. Timothy hit Ed in the side of the head with one that was as big as your thumb and almost knocked him down. Ed had been trying to get Timothy to eat it. :D
I could have gussed---------you guys just fussed and ate and picked on each other, and ate , and argued, and ate ::)
DanG, I wish I coulda been there ;D
Just want to say thanks to you guys for inviting me this weekend. It's good to finally put some faces to the people I've been hearing from on this forum. Even if you are an ugly bunch! Just kidding!!! Just some good ole boys.
I wish I could have stayed longer but I still had fun. We watched Deadheader and friends cut up some logs with his home miser and I picked away at Tom's brain with lots of qeustions. I even got to talk treasure hunting with Deadheader which almost put the rest of the guys to sleep. Even got to meet the infamous DanG. Not a bad weekend at all!
Thanks Ya'll
Brian
Tried to get someone to go after gators and or snakes but no takers ;D ;D. Soooooo had to go kill the hog instead. It was Sooooo fresh it tried to jump off the grill. ;D ;D Mums the word 8)
So what yur really tellin' us is that you boys ate hot dogs. ;D
YUP, one NICE 100# hot hog. ;D ;D ;D
I sure wish I had remembered my hip boots. :-/ Y'all never heard the like of the absolute stream of BS. I thought we wuz gonna hafta CPR Tom when he started tellin' tales of him and Charlie, when they was younguns. :D :D :D The stories were great, but seein' Tom get that tickled was something to behold! :o :o
I really enjoyed Harold's family. What a great bunch of folks! His wife is a delightful lady with a killer sense of humor. Terri is just like Ed, only purtier. She listened attentively to all the sawmill and logging talk, and hardly said a word, but she is about 3 steps ahead of everybody. She can handle her end of a 3x8x12' live oak beam, too. :) Ed's following in his Dad's footsteps, with a lovely, bright wife and 2 nice, polite stepkids. Elizabeth and Timothy are the sort of kids that tend to restore your faith, if you know what I mean. Now, if we could just convince Harold that trees also grow on land..... ::) ;D
Rvrdvr (Brian) came by for a little while. What a nice young fella! Wish ya could've stayed longer, Brian. You make a nice addition to our group, here. Glad to have ya aboard the board board. :) Good luck with that new mill! 8)
Me & Bigdog set up talkin' till after 2am, Fri. nite. Dave, I hope you came away feeling like you have a new friend. I know I do. :)
Spent quite a bit of time with Tom. What can one say about that? 8) 8) 8) 8)
Saw the Home-Mizer at work. Just got one thing to say. If Harold or Ed tell ya anything about building a mill, ya need to listen to'em! Nuff said!
Oh yeah! I fergot to say anything about the food. Tom talked about the baked beans and tater salad Terri made, but he didn't mention the cauldron of beans Gael sent along with him, nor the chips n dip. Tom, I gotta get a recipe for that dip!
Terri's beans were in a big ol' pot...looked like about 3 gallons of'em, and Tom's were in a big bowl, which might be better described as a vat. I kept going back and forth, trying to decide which was better. Later on, after me and Tom and Harold were the only ones left on the porch................... ;D
was there a song and dance?
cant miss a party without some in the face bluegrass!
he harw
he he he harw
Yes indeedy, this was an event to behold. Let there be no doubt that this was an informative and fun place to be. I came away soooo inspired I started disassembling my old boat trailer when I got home. I'm gonna use the steel to make a few improvements to my mill...I saw so many boat parts that was workin so good on the "homemizer" I figured I might as well start with the trailer and work up... :D
DanG, first chance I get I'm gonna be callin to come see ya. I want to see the famous pine that limbed your roof.
Tom is a walking wealth of knowledge and tales. Any time listening to him is time well spent.
'course I figger any folks involved in braile diving ain't got both oars in the water. Somehow or other applying the logic of , if it moves it ain't a log, doesn't appeal to me.
DanG, I wish I coulda seen that gum...
I guess my next question is will this be an annual event?
Annual, semi-annual, quarterly, monthly or weekly, would be fine with us. ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D
Next time, we GOTTA get some chairs on the Barge, and do some "Tourist" type sight-seeing. Bring up a few logs whilst we are making the runs. THAT would be great ;D ;D
Going back up today and get some of them logs we eye-balled while we was waitin for the crowd to start tricklin in.
Also, gotta see if'n we can saw that HUGE Mahogany log that we never got to go look at, over at Roger's place. Sharpened and set a wad of blades. Sure hope I did it right ::)
Gotta get that ERC lumber to show the Hillbilly. I'm sure he figgers I have forgot about him. Think he might be pithed ???
Tom's tales were great, as always. Speshully the one about the ceiling fan. Thought we was gonna wake the whole campground, laughing about that one.
And, them Beans. What can I say ??? If we had the kiln working, we wooda had PLENTY of fuel ::) ::) :D :D :D :D :D :D
Maybe we can snap a few pics THIS time and show that sorry Sweet Gum slab.
I was thinkin' the same way, Harold. No way we can wait a whole year to get together again. :)
I couldn't believe how the time flew! I was there from 630pm Fri till 230pm Sunday, and never even had time to go look at the boat, or the mahogany log, or the vertical bandmill. I bet if we had more time, we could've got a lot more treasures outta that burn pile. ;D
Dave, you just come on, any time. Better hurry if you're gonna see that pine, though. :D
Dang
A verticle bandmill?

I had a really good time and glad ya liked the food. As for not saying much just wait until the next time. As the saying goes you have to watch out for the quiet ones. ;) ;)
Teri
I dunno if I can believe this event really took place ???
Not one mention of grits, RC Colas or moonpies. C'mon guys, fess up. Or have y'all swore off that stuff :D
I ain't absolutely sure it happened, either. I coulda been dreaming. 'Course, all them others woulda hafta been dreaming the same dream, which ain't likely. ::) The reason you didn't hear nuthin about grits, is, there weren't no grits. That's ok, though, cause there was beans. ;D There also weren't no RC, but I ain't seen one of them in years. I didn't miss the Moon Pies, cause they got mushmellers in'em, and I don't like mushmellers.
All in all, I got this warm, fuzzy feeling, like as if it really happened, so I think it did. Only the pig knows for sure, though. :o
We're blamin the guys that Didn'T show up, for not havin the Grits, RC's and Moonpies. ;D ;D ;D Good thing me and Ed spent the night before, catchin that ole Puny Hog. Woulda been BAAAD havin Burgers and dogs at a Hog party. ::) ::) ;D
