I got out golfing yesterday for 18 and was being careful because of my L5 herniation and tear. My physical therapist told me (No Golf). But I am hard of hearing and figured I'd take it easy anyway, well I shot a 39 on the front and a 45 on the back. First time for a 39 since I was 18. I was fine but I still won't tell my PT on Monday. I guess being really careful in not over-swinging paid off. I had very little pain waking up this morning so maybe I'm on the mends and can get back to working on the hoe clearing my barn site. (Which is also on the no do list from my PT). It's been over 3 months since I fell on the Ice. Does anyone have first hand experience on how long it takes to heal that type of injury?
Good for you, hopefully your PT is not a member or guest here or a member at your country club ;D, or you may be playing miniature golf with crutches.
Take it easy and let things heal whilst sneaking in a light game or two. smiley_beertoast
Yes, your physical therapist is an expert in how long it takes to heal, please listen to him! Why on earth would you risk damage to yourself for a round of golf?
Please, your body will lie to you and you could end up injured worst than the first time.

Yes, your PT ::)
;) ;)
What BT said.
Love golf 8) cant wait til my fusion heals, but there will be no golf at least til fall for me, and just joking of course but your topic might have read "acting like a kid" ;D the wrong swing could put you down for a lil while, from experience now, not worth the risk, pain wise or finacial wise. david

That type of injury never heals. ;)
Thanks for the replies; I've had cabin fever for so long cus they don't want me doing anything. Ya I know it's expensive as I have a large deductible health Insur plan. Since I have not been allowed to cut any lumber and no cash coming in, I finally went and applied for SS too. Ok, I'll listen and be good but the work keeps piling up.

Somebody's been talking to my Wife :D
Et, in the same boat brother, bought a plan, 10,000 deductable, just got the first of what will be many more bills, the hospital alone is 80,000, glad to have a plan, just not sure how this is going to wash when all is said and done. It had been so long since I went to the doctor, I was considered a new patient! But as you can figure, now I'm like their favorite person, I hope this health care situation can be worked out for so many folks, the cost is mind blowing for so many folks. david

David, that's also my fear; they know how many sessions my plan allows and I'm sure they will want me to use every one.
I've have been doing all my home exercise programs and have been doing much better hence trying the golf.
I'm sure when my plan comes up for renew my now 5000 deductible may be like your 10000 just to afford it.
Doesn't pay to get hurt! Hear that everyone, BE CAREFUL all the time.
amazing how well you can hit the ball when you quit trying to kill it

Yes, 3 rounds of golf. 4 hours per round if you don't have slow people in front of you and you're hitting the ball straight. So that comes to 12 hours. :)
this golf talk is killing me! Last year me and my son Nathan won the Tuesday night mens league,(mostly his long ball) but the ole man can still scramble 8), Now with his acl rehab, left knee and my back all we can do is whine back and forth to each other ;D And the fact mentioned about not killing the ball, is about as true as it comes, david, oh for the record and just bragging alil, we shot a 58 scratch! one eagle, and a pile of lil birdies, 8)
