Jeff-B how big is it ::)
Do a search on leaf miners.

Or try this one.
Thats pretty close to the actual size, at least on my monitor. It was laying by my front door. Have no idea what tree it might have come from, if any. Maybe a house plant even?
Jeff :
I was going to ask if you had Lilac in your back yard? Although, the leaf shape isn't quite as oblong or square on its base as most lilac leaves. There are always exceptions. ;) It doesn't fit persimon because they are more slender, but not as linear-lancelate nor have serrated margines as cherries. My money is on the lilac bush by the swimming pool. ;)
If it's lilac then, I'de say lilac leaf miner where present on the shrub last season.
cheers
No Lilac here, but thee are some in the nieghborhood. Could very well have blown in.
I found another type of insect on cherry and plum leaves. I've never seen it here before but it removes the epidermal layer off the surface of the leaves. It looks like a slug, but isn't. It emits a stringent odor and it is covered in mucus much like a slug. But, I've never smelled an odor off slugs and I've even handled those giant banana slugs from the west coast.
Just finished with my exhibit at a weekend trade show. Saturday the count was over 4000 visitors. Ran from Friday to Sunday; the local fire department hosts it every year. Never took any pics. Need to give my head a rest. Tommorow is another work day. ;) :D
cheers
What did it tast like? :D
Well Tom the best way to describe it would be to take a deep hawk from the back of your throat to clean out the sinuses. That ought to bring ya pretty close to it. Might even trigger a reflex reaction similar to the result from tasting an actual slug. ;) ::)
yuck!

Need the bucket? ;D
