I'm going to add a felt on my mill with a drip over it soon. Might get it from Cooks or I have a friend that can weld one for me. I was thinking about putting it on the side of the blade after the blade comes out of the log to help with some of the chips or what pieces of wood that might go between the blade and pulley. Has anyone here use one on this side and will it help clean the blade as good as one on the entry side? My drip now is on the entry side. I'm cutting some real sappy pines and use diesel. Ricky
I dont see why it wouldnt work on the exit side. People say that diesel eats the belts on band wheels but I havent noticed it on mine in the almost three years I have owned it. All I use is diesel and oil mix for lube. I have a 2 gallon tank and it will last me about six months. Instead of running the lube while cutting I just turn the drip on once im out of the cut to clean off the blade and I turn it off before I make the next cut. I can usually get three or four cuts before I clean the blade. I have thought about adding a felt as well. I just dont like having high wear items on equiptment. Even if they're cheap.

I'm using diesel/bar 50/50 also works great on fir with pitch. I spray top and bottom of blade when I can hear the blade running on the guide rollers again. That's every five minutes or so. How do you lube the under side of your blade?

I use the half and half too. ;D Mine is just a drip every few seconds. I have 2 shut offs. One to adjust the flow,drip,and one I use to shut it off when I'm not sawing. I only saw for me,on a small scale. No problems in 10 years with belts.
I dont get buildup on the underside. I think most of the buildup is caused from the band wheels pressing it against the blade.

I agree!
On the outside of the blade, the sawdust has a chance to fly off!
The outside of the band expands slightly as it goes around the wheels as well. This probably helps.
I do not recall ever having a buildup problem on the outside of a blade.
I did cut some the other day (old knotty beams) that so sappy it did build up on the bottom of the blade on a couple of blades but not all the blades.
I'm using a 12 volt windshield washer pump system with a plastic overflow tank for a resevoir from a car and a old fashioned door buzzer push switch button to activate the the pump motor for the spray.
has anyone got a picture of the Lube/Wipe Drip System? I thought I had seen one a while back but now I cant find it .
cooks sells one. I'll probably make one myself when I get time. I need to find a good flow control dripper with a glass view. Anyone seen one for sale?
My wipe system is admittedly overkill but it for a reason. I was sawing some extremely pitched old heart pine and got buildup on the bottom. After the new drip system I can successfully saw this stick stuff. See link https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php/topic,58022.msg843717.html#msg843717

The drip valve with the sight glass can be found at most deep well supply places.We have them on most of our irrigation wells.
Xlogger,your oiler pad will work in ether position although I think before the log is better.Why not use two one before and one after.For years I have considered a dust deflector after the far end guide,but that would be trying to fix something that ain't broke.Space is tight there,possibly a verticle piece of wood free to slide up and down held by its own weight or something similar to a carbon brush on a generator.If there is a thin sheen of oil/diesel on the band sawdust is loathed to stick.On my mill I have a pad rubbing on top of the mill head to get the outside of the band. I put the new system on this week. I mounted it under the cover on the idle side and it seems to work well there. I'm still looking for the sight glass drip valve with no luck finding one. I google what slider said also. Cooks sells one like I like but you have to buy the whole system. Has anyone here got one and where did you find it. Ricky

sight glass drip valve? Was them on old tractors?? I use the plastic lines that are clear to see my flow. Or to see the fluid in my lines,is what I mean to say.
