Title: good DC Motor?
Post by: SRM on September 03, 2013, 09:57:01 AM
I need a new DC Motor for a B20.  Old one is a Leeson #1800 1/4 hp.  Encl=TENV and insulation class of F3.
Anything out there that can stand up to weather....poor mill has to be outside most of the time. >:(

Thanks Bedway, I did not know about them.  Now all I need is to learn how to reply to these posts.  Hope this is right.

I put a new 1/2hp I got off Ebay for $100 maybe 7 years ago, still working good.   The up speed is a little better with the 1/2hp vs the 1/4 hp.   Steve

It might be easier and cheaper to use a motor out of an electric winch.

A winch motor won't mount up, the TK one is way bigger using a 56c mount.   Steve

DC motors are no place to cut corners, many of them such as winch, starter, winshield wiper are designed for intermittent use and will not last in constant use.Did you old motor overheat and burn the windings if not it could probably be rebuilt. Frank C.
