I just had a bear encounter... I was out on the bike cutting some trees and had shut the saw off and moved the bike down the trail maybe 400 yards and shut it off to go look at a tree in the bush about 50 yards away when I heard a noise back near the bike, and there was a large black bear waking towards the back of the bike about 50 feet. I had my bear spray out and yelled at him to get, and he looked and then turned away and I yelled again and he ran away. I would have felt better holding a 308. It sure had my heart pumping.

Glad you scared it off,Bet he was going to steal the bike :D :D ;D,
They are out and looking for berries and things to gain a little weight before they go take a long winters nap, I think its nice that the bear moved on when you yelled at him to get, if its a brown bear remain silent and let him wonder off. And next time out drag along your 308 just in case the wind is carrying your scent in his direction. If its a brown bear, a large one and Grizzly tags are not required they make a great rug in your den. ;D
