Title: Pettibone skidder
Post by: mjeselskis on October 20, 2013, 08:07:05 AM
Looking at an old Pettibone skidder. Are parts still available?  Ad says it has a 2.2 liter GM engine, I'm guessing it's not original. Good tires with a set of ladder chains and a set of ring chains

Any words of wisdom? Run the other way, or worth looking at?

Pictures always help. I'm looking for something small for just my own woodlot.

You probably won't like it, I had a pettibone and parts are extremely hard to find. You would be better off with a tractor and winch. You can do a lot more with a tractor.

Thanks for the advice. I've got a 40hp John Deere with a Farmi winch that works fine, but I'm always tempted to get the a skidder to keep the tractor out of the woods. I'll just save the money and buy a good set of tire chains for the tractor and call it good.
