Title: Horse guy clearing pecan grove near Hawthorne Florida.
Post by: Ocklawahaboy on December 23, 2013, 06:25:28 PM
I have never sawn pecan so I bit on a Craig's list ad for $50 a truck load pecan wood.  His primise is that it would be used for cooking but there were a lot of saw logs there.  Got several small logs and interesting crotches to experiment on.  Was willing to pay for them because they don't really have pecan much here in Ocala.  Mainly starts about 30 miles north, although there are a few.  At any rate, he is clearing a large number of trees and making firewood/burn piles.  I would love to see someone with the equipment to harvest/move them make a deal with him for them.  8'+ straight logs up to about 24" that I saw.  Some are down and limbed, others still on the stump, some somewhere in between.  I'm looking forward to seeing what I get out of the few I brought home.  Hate to see these get burned.
