Title: Forum Contest sponsored by LogRite
Post by: Jeff on June 01, 2004, 01:18:59 PM
Time is up!

Sometime this morning I will have Tammy draw a name.  :)

Please Read the following rules to enter this contest:

1. We will ask a question each day starting today (June 1st),  until and including June 19.

2. You must find the correct answer(s) for each days question.

3.You must collect and save all the correct answers and send them in ONE list, in the same order they were asked, to trees@forestryforum.com by midnight June 19. Many of the answers may be found on www.logrite.com or here on the forestry forum.

4. The first question will be posted at the top of this post sometime after 6:00 P.M. Eastern time,

2. Each question will be posted for only about one day. A new question will be posted each day, sometime after 6:00 EDT.

2.The winner will be drawn from those entries that have all the correct answers.

3. You must be a registered member before the end of the contest to win.

4. Winner will win one tool of their choice from the selection available on www.logrite.com

5. You may choose the color of the tool as long as its LogRite blue.

6. If the winner is outside of USA or Canada, we may ask them to pay one third of the shipping charges to deliver their prize. LogRite will pay a third, and the Forestry Forum will pay a third.

7. Each days question will be posted at the top of this post.

8. There will be two wild card answers available in case you miss a question during the contest and no one will help you. ;D

9. We may add more rules if we have too. ;D

Good luck with your contest. I am sure that it will be interesting. I already have 2 peaves, 1 cant hook. 3 chains saws, a wood splitter , skidding winch, tractor, maul& 4 axes, ropes pulleys, so don't think that i would have room for anymore.

Deerlope,
I noticed you didn't say you had a Hookaroon. They're small and don't take up much space.

Logrite, True I don't have a Hookaroon but I do have a pulphook that I hand forged myself. Its made for my large hand with or without gloves on. Hookaroons are not much good when loading pulp wood on a truck or trailer.

I've noticed a spike in activity over the past week. I just don't know exactly why. The contest started the same time we were at the Richmond Expo. I think the activity is related to a little of both.

I wonder how many FF members are actually playing? Time will tell when Jeff gets the answers submitted.

The wild card questions should even out the playing field for everyone.

Kind of like when Jethro said to Jed, "Uncle Jed, If you'll let me handle your money in a year you'll be a millionaire!"

Jed said, "Boy, I got 30 million now!!!"

Jethro "Don't worry about that Uncle Jed, I'll take care of them kind of details!!!"

Bet yall can guess that Jed didn't let Jethro handle the money!!!!

Oh well, thought it'd be worth a try anyways!!!!1 :)

I had no trouble getting the answer.

Jeff- I noticed in the rules for the contest, nowhere does it say that I cannot just ask someone if I don't know the answer to a question. It's amazing how easy it is to get an answer if I simply ask the appropriate person.

Hello All,
It seems as if our yahoo business mail account was down for 1/2 hour or so. Nice job yahoo! If they only knew we were in the middle of a contest, maybe their computer guys would be a little more on the ball.

Anyhow. If the info@logrite.com email address gives you any trouble, use my personal address. peter24@snet.net

Keep those emails coming in one way or another!

Hello, All,
Some of you playing the contest have been getting emails returned to you. This is a sample error message.

"Error 550 Relaying Denied

The underlying cause is:
E-Mail Returning a Relaying Denied Error Message
This error occurs when an e-mail address is trying to send e-mail through the wrong SMTP server.

The solution is:
Check your E-Mail Settings"

I did some research and although I haven't found the specific reason it seems as if the problem might be because your email account is trying to use the smtp server of this forum, not the smtp server of your internet provider. If all else fails, don't click the email link in this forum. Type the address info@logrite.com in your email client directly and send it here.

Any info to help me resolve this would help.

To all those that are getting through with no problems. Ignore this post and keep on playing.
Pete

I got through on the third attempt, just fine. My email account servers never change. I have yahoo email accounts and there are times they are out of service or something, cause can't reach'm. Try later and they work. Might even be my ISP, who knows. Too complex for me to even speculate. ;D
Title: Re: Forum Contest sponsored by LogRite
Post by: Jeff on June 13, 2004, 10:25:37 AM
Logrite, Sorry but that doesnt have anything to do with it :D  Our email accounts and the link on the forum are not at fault, its on the receiving end. Swamp Donkey is right on. Its Yahoo. Yahoo is horrible. My kids use Yahoo and Hotmail and they work about half of the time and lose mail consistantly.

THe Forum uses no SMTP Server, I dont allow it. THe link you click on simply opens your personal email client and has no connection what so ever to the forums servers.

BAAADDDDD YAHOOOOOO!!!!!

It does seem to be working better today.

The forum SMTP thing was a problem similar to this but a different forum. I don't know the internals that well. I was just spitting back what I read. Thanks for clearing that part up.

Hey is anybody willing to email me some questions this week.  I will be out of the country the 16th -19th(Mexico).  No email or contact w/ the internet until I get back.  Gonna be hard to find the answers Sat. when I get back if I don't have the questions.

Hi Folks,

I have all the answers. I just don't know the questions!
Heh, that sounds a lot like something a teenager would say.

Anyway, since it sounds like it is legal to ask for help,
I did somehow manage to miss questions # 1 and # 11 in case
someone would mind giving a hint.

This contest is a great idea. While looking around for answers, I have learned a lot about the Forestry Forum website I never knew, and relearned stuff I did know but forgot.

Don't have to go back that far. My father would use that even after the broken end fell off. That's the same shape his shovels, axes, pick axes and hammers were always in. Jeff,

Yes! FF members are the greatest! I got all the help I need
(for now, anyway). Thanks a million.

Say, what are the chances we could get the final question just a little early, like Friday evening, or so? I'm afraid I might not be
able to get to a computer for a little while after that. If it just can't
be done for some reason, I'll understand. This has already been
more fun than a barrel full of monkeys!
