I am seeing if I should buy one with a 24 inch bar

You should, if it is reasonably priced and running.

I would absolutely consider it!

I run a 630 and 670,  mostly 20 in bar but occasionally a 32 in with skip. Chain.

Also curious what the "E" stands for?

I have a Joni 670 "Champ" [I believe the "champ" name was just some sort of "branding" aniversary saw??].

I have owned it for about 20 years, cost me about $650 new with 22 inch bar.
I use a 26 inch bar most of the time with both full and skip tooth depending on how muddy/dirty the wood is when it gets to the landing - I am over 6 feet tall so I like the long bar - far less bending over when limbing and bucking.

It has been a GREAT saw - felled and bucked softwoods [Douglas fir, Western Larch. Spruce  and Ponderosa Pine] for number of years with it and only repair was a new ignition coil.   [picture of mine below]

If it runs well, good shape and good price, I would recomemnd it.

Tom

Could be a little confusion here between the 670 and the 70E.
