Title:   Would This Work OK?
Post by: dail_h on June 06, 2004, 05:11:05 PM
I need some purlins for my saw shed-woodshop,and I got all this hickory.Question is, would 2x8 hickory work for these? I know they will be heavy and hard, but will they sag, crook too much? The span is 12ft.

We use 2x4 hickory on our log decks, underneath the chains.  By the time they dry out, half of them have to be thrown out because they twist too much.
