Title: looking for advise
Post by: bic on February 23, 2014, 01:34:43 PM
I am on my way with my TF camp. But before I get to far along I am putting this out there for some opinions. I am doing a stacked wall, 6x10" logs between the posts(sort of a piece on peice method) there will be 4 bents involved 8x8 posts and 8x10 tie beams. camp is 24x28. 1.5" slots on the sides of the posts to accept the spline, and 1.5" slot in the log ends.  The question I have is should I brace the posts and drop in the logs, or complete the timber frame including the tie beams and rafter sill, cut a slot on the top of the posts to accept the logs and drop them in. I have seen both methods used, but am leaning towards the later due to keeping the posts etc. true.
Any suggestions are appreciated, or forseen issues.

Thanks bic
