My clutch just quit working all at once and I am thinking it may have lost center as no noise and no friction at all . Had been working perfect up to failure . My son had just learned to run machine and was bad about letting the clutch out rather quickly and may have been a contributing factor .
Had been piling tops and backed up and nothing when shifting to forward gear . All help and info apreciated, Ray.
start from the front. pull the motor leave the rad in place
snowstorm, isn't it kinda tight without pulling the rad and the front 300lb housing to move the motor out. when I did my 440B that is what i did and had lots of room and feel it was worth it. it was a long time ago but was pretty easy.

I was once told by a good mechanic that if something is in the way, get it out of the way. Don't struggle to work around something. AC lines being an exception.
Been studying my tech manual and it says you can leave radiator but I am thinking it will be a tight fit and a new radiator is kinda high . I think I will move my old Cat loader to it and work on it in the timber a couple miles from my house .
Dont like the idea of loading without power other than the winch and towing wont be fun or safe either .
take the nose off. rad and hydra pump stays in place. its bolted to the motor. it all comes out together. with the nose laying on the ground the motor will sit on it. makes an ok engine stand. a couple hydra hoses and other things that you will see. no need to drain the water from the motor. fuel lines starter ect. there may be spacers between the pressure plate and the flywheel. replace clutch disc pressure plate throw out bearing and grease pilot bearing. you will need a pilot shaft to Aline the clutch disc when you bolt it to the flywheel. the spline on the pressure plate is for the live power to the winch

they will usually stand many years of abuse.
if it has those stupid little washers be hind the presser plate make shur the flat spot is in the right place those things are a joke leave it to jd to do something like that :D :D
Its pretty easy on a 440, I can do it in under a day.. though mines been in and out a dozen times so I'm pretty good at it..lol
