Searching the forum for tips to clean bands, I came across a post by Terrifictimbers from a few years back. He uses a wire brush cup in a drill press to clean bands. I tried it today and it works great. Cleans the band, the side of the tooth and even the gullet. Much faster than other methods, and no solvent mess.
As a bonus, I noticed that with the gullet cleaned up there was no buildup of gunk on the grinding wheel when I sharpened them.
