Hi everyone, its been a while that I've posted much but we are in need of a prayer.
A few of you would remember our daughter Rayne was diagnosed with severe congenital neutropenia a few years ago (can't fight bacteria infection) she's been doing great the last year or so. But now she has been diagnosed with Leukemia AML (M5). She had surgery today to install a hickman line, took more bone marrow samples. Good news today is there was no Leukemia in her spinal cord. They put in some chemo directly into her spinal cord. Once she is in remission, we will be heading to Toronto for a bone marrow transplant if a match donor can be found. The wife and I only have 1% chance but our son Hunter has a 25% chance..will know next week, if not they will search the bone marrow registry worldwide.
Rayne is 4 1/2 years old...as my friends would say she is full of "pi$$ and vinegar"...she is very strong!
I will keep you posted on her progress thru this journey.
Thank you
Sbishop

Man,why did you have to post a picture of her. That really pulls on the tear strings. :( Yes,she is in my thoughts.
My goodness! I hope the best. She is in my thoughts.
Prayers are with you and the family. Nobody that young and sweet looking should have to go through pain and suffering like what you describe. Just not fair
Prayers for that little sweetheart.
She has that "I'll take it on, no matter what" look in her eye. Wish you all the best.
Hoping everything goes well for your precious daughter. bg
Prayers pouring out to her from here! She is a brave little girl.
Sbishop,
I'm registered as a bone marrow donor and have been for a number of years. Never been called but would donate in a heartbeat if they could only find a match. Its an easy thing to do (register that is...) - wish more people would do it. Best of luck on finding a match!
She has our prayers as well, and hoping for all the best for her!
She has our prayers, as do you and the rest of your family.
I hope for the best, I'm with thecfarm on the picture, such a beautiful girl. Puts a lot of our petty little problems in perspective.
Thoughts and Prayers for your Family
Our prayers and thoughts are on the way
Our thoughts and prayers go out for Rayne, for sure!
Prayers sent up for your lovely daughter and the rest of the family.
Prayers for you and your little girl, stay strong !
Praying for a good outcome. :)
She has our prayers.
My heart goes out to you and your family.
She does look like a fighter who doesn't lose!
She will be in our thoughts and prayers.
Another set of prayers coming from Southern Mo.
Yes, my prayers are with Rayne during this unfortunate time in her precious life.
I have a little girl almost exactly the same age. Prayers are with you.
One question. Is the bone marrow registry international, or are you only able to make a match in Canada?
Prayers for Rayne and strength to you all!
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
It is an international registry.
So far she is doing well with her treatments.
prayers from southeast Missouri also
Please keep us posted as you find a donor.
She will be in my thoughts and prayers. Blessings from ND!
Prayers sent hope all goes well.
Thoughts and prayers for her and your family...
Thanks everyone,
She just finished her 10th day of chemo...first round is over...so far so good, she is in good spririt...eating and drinking so that is a bonus.
no news yet on a donor, will post periodic updates on her progress.
She got her hair cut a few days ago, she understands she will lose it all in a few weeks...but it will grow back

What a brave young lady. What a beautiful smile.
Thoughts and prayers are with you and Rayne.
Hi everyone, just thought i'd give a quick update on Rayne's progress
Rayne had to have some dental work prior to her bone marrow transplant to make sure that they wouldn't be any complications cause by her teeth. they put her to sleep on July 25th andw ere suppose to do a cleaner and maybe cap one tooth but ended up pulling 2 teeth and capping 6 others....She then develop an infection in her mouth (she has no neutrophils to fight bacteria infection)...plus just having 10 days of chemo...it all added up. She was down for 10 days straight, 4 different antibiotics, constant drip of morphine, multiple transfusion....she didn't eat for 10 days....it was a rough period. but on Monday things looked better, she was up and around for an hour or so, had few spoon fulls of soup, yesterday was 10X better..she had little bit more to eat during breakfast, lunch and supper....today she seems to be full of energy, her platelets are coming up...hemoglobin's too....she seems her shelf again...
Unfortunately, the hair started to fall out and she want it shaved off...she knows it will come back.
Here's a picture of her yesterday having a snack and watching tv. We should have some information next week on how the first round of chemo worked and also more info on a match for her bone marrow transplant.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Steve, sorry I forgot to mention in PM, Terri said anything they could find that Abbey would eat they would bring it by the truckloads, it's so hard to tell what will taste good to them, Ab liked anything salty/spicey, tubs of butter with a spoon, and pickles ???. I just know they were so happy to see her start eating again. Our love and prayers to Rayne.
That is so true...they said "no rules"....anything she wants to eat...is a good.
I know last night she was eating some alphabet soup...and I had picked up some chicken quesadilla and some sour cream...well she hate almost all my sour cream by itself!
her taste buds have changed a bit....no longer wants blueberries...she ate them all the time before hand.
Thanks again!
Having a snack and watching TV! Now that was an improvement after those 10 days of torture.
It's good to see her feeling better. She is in our prayers as well.
Thanks for the update. Rayne will continue to be in my prayers for a full and complete recovery.
My goodness, I just came across this.
I just said a prayer for the precious girl, and will continue to do so...
She looks so sweet just sitting there. Give her a hug from me.
Prayers going up for your little Angel.
Love and prayers from Mid-Michigan.
Just caught this thread too ... prayers for a good outcome for her and strength for the whole family.
It's kids like Rayne that make giving to organizations like St Jude's Children's Hospital so critical. No kid should ever have to go through this.
Prayers going up!
I just had to post this picture that my wife sent me today! She is feeling so much today...keep those prayers coming!

Well if that doesn't bring a tear (happy of course) to your eye! My worries in life are so small compared to what she is dealing with so well, you tell that little beauty she is now officially my new hero! Thanks for taking the time to post that for us.
What sandhills said, plus one.
Fantastic picture! :)
That picture is priceless! Prayers going up for Rayne, what a precious girl.
GREAT picture! Wonderful smile and attitude there. 8)
Prayers for you guys.
Yes, and a very strong little girl.
I've got some good news to report...Whatever you guys are doing keep it up!
Rayne had spinal tap and bone marrow biopsy on Tuesday and the results could take up too a week as some samples were sent to Seattle Children's hospital to double check. Her Leukemia is in remission (MRD negative) result came in Wednesday night from the IWK hospital which we are at. The doctors were so happy that they called Seattle to see if they could put a rush on it...4 hrs later we received the call...same thing...negative...talk about some happy crying campers.. but wait it gets better. 30 minutes later one of the doctors comes and tells us they found a perfect 10 out of 10 match for the bone marrow transplant , we were only told its a young male, all the test have been performed....its the best she can receive. if everything works out, this will happen in the next 3-5 weeks. right now its up to the donor when it is good for him (and hoping he doesn't change his mind). Once he agrees on a date with the hospital in Toronto, the IWK Halifax hospital is notify as they have to prep her...we are then notify.
Here is the best news of all. We were able to bring her home until she receives the call, we made the trip last night...she was so happy to be home. We have to keep her out of the public eye...she's able to go outside and play. Her brother is away at camp until Sunday...he's going to be surprise to see her when he gets home!
We should be home for 1-3 weeks...then IWK for 1-2 weeks...then off to Toronto. If for some reason things are past the 6 week mark because things got delayed Rayne will receive another round of chemo to make sure it doesn't come back while waiting. she needs be in remission for transplant. The original plan was for her to have a heavy first round chemo treatment to get rid of it all, second round while waiting for match...so far the plan is working great..actually a little bit ahead of schedule if she receives transplant before second round...
THANK YOU all for your thoughts and prayers.
Sbishop
I'm so thrilled to read your report, and just a bit teary eyed. So very, very happy for your family!
My prayers are continuing for Rayne during this difficult but uplifting time in her precious life.
Thank you for the update and exciting news.

I hope things continue to be positive smiley_blue_bounce
awesome news!!! 8) 8)
What Sawyer697 said. God is performing miracles every day, if we just take notice. So happy for you guys!
Why doesn't God bring our boys home?
SBishop...That's wonderful news! Being able to go home together is probably the best medicine for the whole family. Tell that tough girl of yours we're proud of her!
Den...The Lord works through people, but people are not always the most reliable expressions of Gods will. Nevertheless, He will prevail. And it will be because you and your family will have had the strength, the Love, the fortitude and the persistence to see those kids brought home where they belong. Like many others, I will continue to pray for the boys safe return, but I'll also pray that God continues to provide you and your family the strength to persevere until that happens.
Chet
Best wishes and prayers to Rayne and the whole family.
very good news indeed.
Best

Hi everyone,
I've got some good news to share with you all. We got the "call" late yesterday evening we have been waiting for. The transplant is scheduled for September 23rd. We have a few trips to make to the IWK children's hospital in Halifax in the meantime. We have to be there next Tuesday for 3 days, then we are able to come home till the 11th...back to Halifax and we fly to Toronto on the 14th. Procedure will be performed on the 23rd. Keep doing what you are doing ;)
Please keep Rayne in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks
Sbishop
Rayne was able to enjoy the outdoors a few days ago with her brother Hunter!
That picture is just really sweet! Thanks for sharing.
We are praying for Renee, and your family.
That thumbsup pic and smile still etched in my mind, and think of her often. smiley_thumbsup
Wonderful. Just wonderful. Keep those prayers coming, team! And I'm saying a prayer of thanks for the donor.
Thanks for sharing that! We will continue praying and it sure is nice to see her outside where any kid belongs rather than in a hospital room 8). Give her a hug for us.
Wouldn't you just love to shake hands with the donor, a true hero!
Yeah, you gotta be proud of both Rayne and the donor. There are lots of good people in the world.
Nice to see her. A very nice picture.
That's great news! We think of her alot. let's all thank that donor! 8)
Thanks for the picture. My prayers will continue for Raynee and the Donor. :)
That is a nice pic and so nice to hear the good news and will keep praying for both Rayner and the donor.
I may have mentioned my friend Kaitlyn (age 24 or so) who is struggling with cancer. She is on chemo. They just got back encouraging news today-- the cancer is in remission, and they are backing her chemo off considerably.
Great news about Rayne!
That is some great news, hope for continued success on both counts.
Great news! Prayers being answered. We serve an awesome God, don't we?
Hi everyone,
Just a quick update to let you know that Rayne is all settled in here at Sick Kids hospital in Toronto. She started her conditioning her order to prep her for the transplant. She will be receiving 6 days of chemo then 1 day of rest before transplant.
Thank you all for your support

She looks a little thin :( but that is a big plate of food. I hope her appetite is good.
Sure glad to see her with that food Steve! Let me know what time is good to check in, sorry I missed the call with Terri but sure would've liked to talk with you. Let her know she's in our thoughts and prayers everyday, all the best, Pat.
The picture of Rayne and Hunter is priceless, easy to tell that they've missed each other!
Thoughts and prayers still continue from here!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all today. We just got back with Abbey and now wait a few days for the biopsy report, give Rayne a hug for us as usual and tell her we're behind her all the way!
Just saw this post.
The Sheats family is praying
Hi Everyone,
Today is day 10 of post transplant....
I wish I could give you all a positive report tonight but I can't. Rayne hasn't been doing well for the past 4 days. She has mucositis in her throat and mouth due to the chemo and is being helped by a constant drip of morphine.
It's sad how fast things can change but keep her in your thoughts and the next report will be positive
Thank you all for your support
Sbishop
We're with you brother. Words cannot express.
Rayne, you are in our prayers.
Hang in there Rayne. We are pulling for you for better days ahead.
As you know our thoughts and prayers are with Rayne everyday, call anytime. That video of her on Prayers for Rayne is nothing short of precious, what a beautiful, tough little girl! One day at a time and our love to Rayne and all.
Prayers your way !
Give Rayne a hug for me. :)
We continue to pray for Rayne and all of your family.
Prayers from here too, for Rayne and for strength for you and your family.
Prayers coming from our house!
still prayers from here, give her a hug for us.
I pray for a full and speedy recovery. Life is tough enough without medical problems!
Bump. I'm not much on facebook but just saw some really cool pictures of Rayne on "Prayers for Rayne" tonight! Lets keep her in our thoughts and prayers everybody, she is a super hero for sure!
We are praying & hoping!
I have some good news to report! Rayne has a neutrophil count of 520 today.....she is considered grafted from her bone marrow transplant. This is another step completed on her road of recovery. They will be performing a test Monday to find out how many donor cells she has versus her own cells. Rayne's doctor would like to see 100% donor cells. We will have the results within 48hrs. Rayne still has a few more bumps to get over(liver counts are really high) and hopefully we will be back to the children's hospital in Halifax in the near future!
Thank you for your support!
So happy for the news!
Us two! Glad to hear & will keep praying.
That is a good report. We have a young boy here that has just completed the same procedure and has gone home. :)
That's great to hear.
Good to hear look forward to next update.
Good news!
Great, great news! Who says our good and compassionate God doesn't respond to prayer??
Hi everyone,
What a roller coaster since the last post, everything went downhill but for the past 4 days things have improved greatly.....there is some light at the end of the tunnel. She has it above 500 of neutrophils the past 4 days. She has 85% donor cells. They will perform another test on Monday to see if she has more donor cells. There is a possibility we might be heading back to the children's hospital in Halifax later next week.
Thanks for all your support!
Sbishop
My Prayers will continue for Rayne, for her full and complete recovery.
Thank you for the update, and prayers will continue for this young "warrior".
There,good news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
I just came across this post. I must live under a rock. I will be praying hard for this sweet girl and your family. The good Lord promises us he will not give us more than we can handle with his help, but we will go through trials and tribulations. He is with you.
Hi Steve, great to hear that Rayne is improving. I will be south this week and i will give you a call. We can go for lunch again. Not sure if there are any hockey tickets available. It will depend how long you are in Toronto for.
This is a great report, thanks for posting.
Our thoughts and prayers are still going out for Rayne!
Great to hear! Keep us all posted please.
Your Family is in my prayers
Good morning everyone, I was visiting with Steve and April yesterday. Rayne is doing very well . All her blood work counts continue to climb. She is bouncing around like a little girl should, full of energy and life. On Monday a decision will be made if they get to head back east to Halifax's Hospital. They then will be only 5 hrs from home, and another large step in this journey.
Stephen
Thanks for the update Stephen. :)
Great news, Made my day!

Yep, great news for sure, my wife knows a lot more about this than I do after going through it with her daughter and she was so happy to hear the news and tried to explain what this means to my feeble little mind, and what a big step this is in her recovery! Prayers still coming Rayne.
Thanks Stephen for updating the site.
Yes Rayne has been doing well. She will be 5 years old on Tuesday...we get the results on Tuesday....hoping for positive results and we get to fly out....not home but 5 hours away....its closer then 12 hrs ;)

We jumped on a plane last night and are now in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the IWK children's hospital as an outpatient for a few months. We got settled into an apartment today and I'm planning on heading home next and my wife will stay with Rayne.
Thank you all for your support, this is a another milestone in her journey!!!

Whoo hoo! Great news. God is good!
We're so happy for the good news, and very sorry we missed your Birthday Rayne but here's a belated Birthday wish from us in Nebraska, just keep up the spirit!
There were prayers requested today in our Sunday School class for a little girl dealing with leukemia, and I thought about Rayne ... Anybody know how she's doing? Hoping no news is good news ...
hi, sorry for the late post.
Things have been moving along slowly but in a positive way. Rayne spent the first 11 days of December in isolation with pneumonia but that is all cleared up and she was out of the hospital since but we are still in Halifax for another few weeks. Hoping to get the ok to head home the week of Jan 5th.
This Friday-Sunday she is getting a pass to see her older brother play in an hockey tournament about an 1hr from home (5hrs drive from Halifax)....we are all exited that she and my wife can attend.
Want to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year....THANK YOU all for your support....I know next year will be a better year!

Well, that picture put a little sunshine in a rainy, foggy Christmas Eve day. This is SO good to hear, I'm so happy that there's positive change. Here's hoping that you'll all be able to celebrate next Christmas at home with a completely healthy Rayne.
That is awesome. This made my Christmas eve even better! Very strong and beautiful little girl you have there. Merry Christmas!
This is great news, Merry Christmas.
She is one tuff angle! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
We would like to wish everyone here at FF a Happy New Year. It was a challenging year to say the least but really looking forward to 2015 BECAUSE if everything stays the same, Rayne will be returning home next week as an outpatient of the IWK!!!!!

SBishop,
My heart goes out to you and I trust and hope everything goes well for you and your family. Our daughter works at a Children's Hospital in Charlotte NC with a lot of children with various cancers and other diseases. She tells amazing tales of the kids who come through there. They have amazing strength and attitudes and say and do things you would never believe. If you didn't believe in a higher power at work you would after seeing these kids. I hope to hear Rayne will be home soon for 2015. Have a Happy New year.
What WV Sawmiller's daughter says x2, we wish your entire family nothing but the best for the new year, we can't wait to see the pictures of Rayne back at home!
