Title: my new tool for firewood delivery
Post by: road_monkey on July 20, 2014, 04:32:19 PM
just something I whipped up quick to make sure I give my customers an even face cord.  slips on the forks of the tractor, and has a chain to keep it from falling off.   seems to work well, but it needs a "wall" on the back so I can roll the forks back more coming out of the woods

yes. the face cord/full cord/rick/etc is a regional thing I guess.   around here everybody deals in face cords.
4x8x16"-18" long.

Do you have any chainlink fencing handy? I might try that as a backer so that you can see through it as you dump into the trailer. Also, the fence would be more forgiving on odd shaped pieces. Just an idea.

Looking nice by the way...

Looks good and probably easier to load than throwing in trailer.

You might just have to patent that.

very nice attachment. I bet you could market and sell that. Lots of folks sell wood by face cord these days.

for those that care, this is what 7 facecord looks like in a 14' dump trailer with 4' sides

Call a fence rental place and see if you can buy some of their damaged fencing. I think if you showed up with the firewood handler attachment to show and a bundle of firewood, you'd probably get it for just the bundle of firewood.

Heck. If you were close I probably have some I would give you. BTW. Good looking wood. Also check with any company that installs chainlink fencing or you could look into the orange plastic snow fencing.

Great idea!

A piece of hog or cattle panel would be be more rigid than chain link.
