When the temp is up around 85° and the humidity is up there, we shut down early!

If my sawjobs were a little closer to home, I'd start sawing around 6:00 AM and quit around 10:30-11:00 and go home, then come back around 5:00 PM and saw until dark!

That would give me an 8-9 hour day at the mill!

I got zapped by the heat back in 08', and it seems I am a lot more sensitive to it than ever,   A breeze is good, shutting down early cost, but is worth it at the end of the day.

Heat exhaustion is a bad dude.  It took several years for me to be able to really take the heat after my episode.  I was one bump away from a heat stroke and was down to tunnel vision when I made it to my work truck and the water cask.  Heat is nothing to be taken lightly.

Sawed about 1,200 bf of Red Pine yesterday and I'll betcha I drank over a gallon of water from the Igloo and my off-bearer probably drank the same + a couple of Gatoraids.

Another day and a half and this job will be history, should total out somewhere around 9,000bf.

Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday was a scorcher and I had no help for about two hours during the hottest portion of the evening.  All of sawmill is not under the umbrella.   :-\  Thankfully I am off today.   ;D
