Well I could have used this myself but its just to far from me to make $ from it. The man told me he had 30 pines to cut up and I told him that I was sorry but i just can't do it but would post his # here so maybe one of you could do it. I can't remember his name but call him at 912-685-6755. This is the # for a place called Growers Supply. Sorry I can't remember his name again but he does want this cut and said he tried finding a mill owner but no luck in area. Hope this helps one you.
I almost called. :D Metter is a pretty good distance but it is all interstate. I figured I could make it up there and spend a couple of nights and make it home without it costing me too much. :D
I've been known to take jobs like that but I was younger. I don't like those "over-nighters" much any more. :)
Well Tom, you could bring a pillow and make a bed of sawdust right there on the bunk of your mill. Bring a can of beans and heat them up on the exhuast manifold. ;D
but then again, maybe not.
He is farther from me then you, but, I do not mind an overnight stay because my 1971 Ford has a really nice front bench seat :-D
It's all your'n peewee. :D A trip almost to Macon in my truck isn't too palatable right now. :D
Shoot, Homey was up there this past spring. There is another guy that almost DEMANDED we go to his yard and saw beams for him ::) ;D That was north of Folkston. Might get 2 fer 1, if ya call right now. ;D :D :D
Weren't those beams to be cut from treated poles? No thanks. :D
No Sir, not at all. :o They were to be cut from the right size logs to mostly just take 4 slabs and load the next log. He saws beams for homes and other custom orders. He has NO use for boards, although, some are produced anyway. ::) ;D
Hear that Tracy?
You got a cot you can throw in the back of your truck? :D
Tom my luck the mill or the truck would break down 4 hours from home and at 8-10mpg on the f250 that would be $200+ in gas getting there and back. I have found people get offended when you tell them you charge extra for long milers like this so I didn't even bother. I like new places but this could back fire at that distance if it went wrong.
Oh.... that timber guy wanted lumber cut from kiln dried poles and some stuff would be treated all for $.18 bf.. I think he was really trying to teach his "main" sawer a leson by showing he could get someone else that would be there he wanted without having to him wait for the main sawer finsh other jobs first.
Tracy,
I've gotten some un-solicited chatter about the pole fellow all the way down here in Jacksonville. Don't know if it is true but it sounds like someone who would be difficult to work for and maybe cut your legs out from under you when he was finishd too. I'm still researching it.
I tried calling 912 - 685 - 6755 and it comes back an "incorrectly dialed number", I am calling from the Atlanta area and Metter is 912. Is the number correct?
Yep thats the # on caller I.D.. The place is called Growers Supply.
A long distance call, I needed a phone card. So, I ended up calling and the lady said noone knew anything about getting the trees cut up. Oh well.
