this sounds bad, I have found in my limited timber experience, to get the tree down without a lot of explanation while doing so, Not sure why this happened, maybe too confident? A video would be good to go back and study after a safe escape has been made. Hope he recovers from this one with minimal effects.
Not sure what happens as there was only that one picture, but it looked like a big old "wolf" pine tree. They may even have been limbing or bucking it and had it roll over on him. There's certainly a jumble of BIG (and crooked) logs where the emergency guys are standing.
