Title: gas house heater blower wont turn on when called for heat. just hear a click. .

gas house heater blower wont turn on when called for heat. just hear a click.

...fired up the boiler today and when i switched the house thermostat to heat and adjusted the temp all i hear is a click at the blower in the basement! what could cause this?

Might be a bad start capacitor.

The click is probably a relay noise, check to see that there is no summer/winter switch in the wrong position, with the power off check to see if the blower motor is seized or lacking a belt if it is a belt drive. Make sure the power is off when you do this. A good rule for turning off power is that if you are not absolutely sure which breaker or fuse handles the machine or circuit turn off the whole building with the main.
