Title: Freak accident in Québec
Post by: 1860sylvain on October 13, 2014, 05:00:33 PM
A 45-year-old man was killed Sunday when he fell onto a circular saw.

The gruesome work accident happened at about 12:45 p.m. in Brownsburg-Chatham, 100 kilometres northwest of Montreal, as the victim was sawing logs into planks to repair chalets.

The husband of the woman who owned the chalets on Route 327 was working with the victim and warned him he should be more careful, said Sergeant Ronald McInnis, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

Then, a plank got stuck in the saw.

With the saw still running, the 45-year-old man got up on a step-ladder to dislodge the piece of wood but lost his footing and fell onto the saw. Death was instantaneous, McInnis said, so the chalet-owner and her husband did not call for an ambulance but asked police to come directly.

Police investigators and officials from the provincial work-safety commission were on the scene Sunday afternoon.

Police did not release the victim's name because his next of kin had not yet been notified.

Be careful out there.
