I finally got tired of searching the net for a used mill at a decent price. I placed an order for a Woodmizer LT40 hydraulic. I ordered it with the 35hp engine, debarker, lubemizer, and the hydraulic support arms. I'm upgrading from a lt15. Now the hard part I have to wait 4 weeks to get it.
Scott
Congratulations, I'm sure the wait will be worth it. 8) 8)

I almost just grabbed one with the 26hp because they have it in stock. But this is a long term purchase so I decided to wait.

Congrats and good luck, hope it is a rewarding experience for you.
I have the pick up scheduled for the 27th of this month. Does anyone who's gone to Indy to pick up their mill have any advice or pointers? Most importantly are there any really good places to eat close to the pick up site?
Scott
If you are anything like me, you will be too wound up to eat. Pack a sammich in the glove box for when you get all dizzy and such😜😜

I'll bet you could eat out twice a day for a month at a different place every time within several miles of Wood-Mizer. That is if you decide to eat out instead of buying a mill.
WM is on W. 10th St. 1/4 mi west are Subway and Burger King. About 1 mi east are several Chinese places and a bunch more fast foods (Arby's, McD, etc). If you go south from Wood-Mizer 1 mile on Country Club Rd. to rte 36 (Rockville Rd) at that intersection there are Papa John's pizza and Penn Station East Coast Subs. To the west on 36 are oodles of restaurants in the next 2-3 miles. To the north a few in the next mile.

So your LT15... going to join the current used market or sell it for a decent price?
Just eat right there. They will treat you right and you will leave thinking, I could work here just for the lunches.
When you finish the sawdust start on the grits. ::)

I put it on craigslist at what I thought was a fair price. It's an older LT15 13hp. It has 20ft of bed and around 15-20 bands with it. I made a power up and down for it with an electric drill. Works great and you only use it if you want. I priced it for $4250 expecting to hold steady at 4k. I sold it in a couple of days to a guy from out of state. I told him a deposit would hold it but it couldn't leave until I got my new mill. I bet I could have sold it 10 times. Guess I sold it to cheap but I'm happy with what I got so that's all that matters. I paid 3k for it 7 years ago. I did add an extra bed though. Another reason I bought a Woodmizer great resale.
Thanks for asking though.

I didn't even know they had a place to eat there. I'm driving up from the St.Louis area and returning the same day. I like to try locally owned restaurants when I'm out of town. I can get chain stuff anytime. Plus my brother is going with me. You have to feed your help.
Scott
Much diffeant than the WM dealer here in Maine. They live so far out they almost have to pump sunlight in.
You'll be so excited you'll want to get home and saw a board better eat first ! Congrats

I thought grits and sawdust are equivalent (in terms of taste...) :D
:D :D
Apparent that you have tried both.. ;D
Put butter, salt and pepper, and plop a soft yolk egg in the middle, and the sawdust ain't too bad.
What tree species do you like the better?

They are better mixed together. 8) 8)
I bought the same mill last year, and love it! The extra horsepower is worth it. Everything on that mill is nice, I just can't seem to get enough time to use it. Good luck with it! ;D
I go by 10th a lot when running from Indy to Chicago, each time I wonder if WM would mind if I pull in with a set of doubles ;D
Congrats Scott, you have just enough time with the 15 to build a new shed for baby so it will never spend a night out in the rain/snow. Frank C.
congrats on the mill, I just ordered an lt40 my self, got the 35 gas upgrade ,debarker,2 extra log stops and 2 boxes of blades, but won't be able to pick up mine till september. Thats when my current job ends and i officially am retired,i feel like i'm waiting for x-mas when i was a little kid, hope time flies. couldn't wait with the 2200 off mill and 400+ off debarker ! :christmas:https://forestryforum.com/board/Smileys/default/christmas.gif
Good deal, Randy! Is it a hydraulic?
Congrats on the retirement gift to yourself, Randy. 8)
Congratulations on the new mill. Hope you enjoy it and am sure you will. If you eat out in Indy just be careful when you ask for cole slaw on your hot dog. Last time I did the lady put it on it and said "Okay, sounds disgusting to me but its your hot dog." Those people just don't know what they are missing.
yes it is hydraulic, and most work will be done by me,myself and i .... so i will need it :D
congrats on the new mill! I know exactly what you mean about a kid a Christmas. I am sure I won't be able to sleep a wink the night before mine arrives.

I've got that covered Frank. I have a 45x72 with a 16ft work height for my mill and firewood. It's just a cover with no sides. Works pretty good though.

Nice good minds think alike.

On your way home, up I-79, at exit 54, you can drop the mill off in the park and ride. I can check it out, make sure everything works as it should and for you free. It will be ready for your pick-up in 2-3 years. Really, congrats on your buy.
