I was wondering if anyone here could tell me how to drain the fluid out of a gearmatic 19 winch. Theres a plug underneath it on the left side but theres no way to get a socket on it and a wrench would never work. Is there a special tool i need? Do i have to unbolt the winch and pull it off the skitter to get to it?
Mine is on the extension housing on the brake side
Ive also got one on the extension but there a plug underneath the winch and I didn't know if the extension and the winch itself is all one compartment or is they were separate.
All one
all right thanks but do you know what the plug would be for?
You should find what your looking for here

Thanks Lumberjack 48. I can honestly tell you that these winches are finicky, when i first got the machine it took me like a month just to get the clutch bands clean and adjusted right. The brake cylinder blew apart made one heck of a mess. I don't know how many hours after school i spent trying to adjust it just right.
Just curious what fluid are you trying to drain, The gear oil?
