I was wondering if any of you use a cart to sticker stack your wood on?
I have just had a large slab poured for a pole barn and I plan on cutting the wood to build the roof trusses. I'm thinking the piles of wood may be in the way and it might be a good idea if I can roll them around.

I keep stacks of wood on low grade 4x4's that I make out of the hearts of hardwoods. I then use a pallet jack to move them around.
The closest thing I've seen to that was one of my chicken farmer customers who stacked his wood on a hay wagon so he could move it in and out of the barn.
I used a Hay wagon & a 16 foot trailer when I built my shed & it was nice being able to move the lumber out of the way & also pull it to where it was needed . It worked well for me 8)

We use carts for sawing. It makes it a lot easier to keep a standard bundle. We also have a green chain, so it makes it a lot easier.
As long as you have a clean area, it should be a help. But, make sure you get something with wheels that will withstand the weight.
We have 5 carts/wagons similar to what you see at the airport running around in a train behind a little tractor. They have a fully pivoting front axle to allow for much mobility. They stand about 15" to a 4' * 8' deck. We have them perpendicular to the edger in a row of 4. When one is full it rolls out from under the shed to be off loaded by the loader. The 5th has standards on it for edger trimmings. The main 4 work great. I'm saving to buy a conveyer and chipper/hog for the slabs, handling them twice is a labor killer.
I bought eleven wagon running gears at a farm sale cheap. Sold some and think I am down to about 5 or 6. Put beds on them and use them for all kind of wood related things. I almost always saw, stack, and sticker on wagons. When I get about 1,000 to 1,500 bf on a wagon I pull it to a barn about 3/4 mile away if I have room.

If you are going to be on concrete, you can get some good rollers for 25 to 30 bucks each that together you can put 2000 pounds on a cart. We have several we made in 92 that are stil in use every day. We use ours for mostly 8 and 10 foot material though.
Woodworking companies have auctions and we have purchased some very heavy duty steel carts for 30 bucks each.
For rough ground, you will need pnumatic tires that have some size to them.
