Title: Honda Generator EB3000 problem.
Post by: MartyParsons on July 31, 2015, 03:14:15 PM
Hello,
We are repairing a Honda Generator for a customer. It is a EB3000C Ser # E2GO-1510786.  I have been searching today to see if there are any issues out there. Very little it seems. It has a cycloconverter. The engine did not run when it came in. We installed a Ignition control module on it and got it running. The voltage was about 100 volts ( spec to be at 120V) We did the tests and called Honda Techline ( we are a Honda dealer) they were no help.
We are now back to the beginning. Engine will not run again. I would assume it damaged the engine control module again. $ 75.00.
Generator test said to check each stator winding but eveytime we removed the winding the engine would shut down.
Anyone ever work on one of these?

Thanks for reading.

Marty

I have a Honda EU3000c that I put a lot of hours on and very rarely have any problems with it. How ever one time it would not run very well and I eventually took the exhaust muffler off and there is a screen that over long periods accumulates a carbon build up that chokes off the exhaust. I cleaned that screen and it worked fine again.

Don't know if it relates to your problem but if the engine is not running well, it's something to check.

The only problem I ever had with my eu3000, was someone thought they needed it worse than I did.

I guess leaving it outside the shop overnight may solve the issue. Never gave it a thought.  :o.
we just had two Stihl Cut Quick concrete saws leave during the day while we were open. The replacements are now locked to the display. If they carry out the display and the saws then they can have them.  Gosh I do not like dishonest folks. But that is part of life.  ???

my 2000 honda had a problem last summer, similar diagnostics
wound up that a nest of mud bees had made a nest in the muffler. had it all clogged up
cleaned it out and wha la, back to normal

Hello we ordered a new cycloconverter control today. It controls engine spark and AC voltage and I would bet other things. I think Roger said it was about $ 350.00.
I will let you know how we make out. There is no way to test it just replace it. But from the other Honda dealer he said he has replaced a few and had the same issues we have had. He also said it was a good generator not many issues.
