Title: Barn dismantle and re-assemble as a home (planning stage)
Post by: woodsteach on November 13, 2015, 02:22:51 PM
We are planning on dismantling this barn and putting it back up as a house.  The bottom floor will be the basement, which will be made with the faswall ICF product.  Here are some pix of the barn as it stands and there should be a sketchup file of what it should look like where it will end up.

the Barn is 36' x 72'

Any dismantling and resurrecting suggestions will be welcomed.

What is the best way to keep the barn look (exposed trusses and boards) while sealing up the structure.  I'm thinking of reinstalling the existing siding and covering it with ? __ inches of XPS or EPS,  osb then more siding.  Something similar with the roof.

East side which will become the walk out basement

Loft with an air "chase" to evacuate air from the milking parlor to the copula.

The hay mow, 2nd floor

Our plan is to live in the basement while we finish the upstairs.  We are getting cramped with 3 girls in a 2 bedroom house with 1! bathroom!!

Thanks for looking

Paul

Well this project is a bust.  On to the next one.

On the other hand a friend has decided to move this barn to their place so that I won't be destroyed by the land owner.
