Jeff went into surgery at about 8:00 am and was in the operating room for about 3 hours and was out by 11:00 am. He had the arthroscopic surgery instead of the full blown. Surgery went well, it wasn't his rotator cuff it was a bone spur that was irritating his cuff. He would of got to come home today BUT... When they went to put the tube down his throat to breathe during surgery they had a hard time getting the tube down due to alot of tissue. He has a very sore throat and having a hard time breathing. Hopefully he will be released tomorrow if all goes good through the night. We will keep you informed. :'(
8) 8) 8) 8) That's GREAT news 8) 8) 8) 8)
Thanks for the good news. Aint it great what these Drs can do. Is it true then that talking makes the throat very muscular, and it's then not easy to slip things down? :)
Right now, also praying for a young 29yr old mother of three who went under the knife today to remove (or just biopsy) a large brain tumor just discovered Friday. Sure am hoping her findings are positive for her future.
We'll be thinking of you while you 'nurse' the "Big Guy" back to his self. ;D
Thanks for the Good News there Wildflower 8)
Tell the Big Guy we send our best wishes.
ian
Does that mean he won't be yelling at us any time soon?
Glad to hear it went well, NOW STOP THUMPING HIM. :D
Thanks for the update Tammy, sure glad to hear everything went ok. :)
Great news, Tammy, I sure am glad you let us know. Hope he is home soon. 8)
Wildflower, Give our best to Jeff.
Are you tanking over the helm in his absence?
Ahh yes, Mrs. Captain had a spur on the acromium removed in the right shoulder as well, about 4 years ago. Just like new now.
Thanks for the update, hope he is home soon.
Captain
I'm glad to hear the shoulder went well .
The throat thing is mean. They wouldn't operate on me once because they didn't know I had an "anterior larynx" (I didn't either!!) and the hospital didn't have the other device so no surgery. What a surprize! But my throat was real sore from thier attempts and it took a couple weeks to get better.
Maybe the Doc will prescribe ice cream!!!!
;D
See what prayers can do.
Glad to here the good news.
EZ
Glad to hear Jeff is doing well. Hopefully he will be back to giving you a hard time real soon.
Glad it went well and hopefully now it will bring some relief.
I just spoke with the big guy. He is in alot of pain from the surgery, they have given him a shot to help but now he is nauseous, anything he drinks comes back up. He had blood all over in his beard and mouth when he woke up. He throat is still pretty sore. Will post more when I have more news.
Glad they didn't have to use the knife. He'll be out of pain and back in action lots sooner 8)
Sounds as though things went pretty well considering. I went through that same throat thing before I had my back surgery. I was not a happy camper for about a week. ::)
Judy and I will try to swing that way on our way north. Probably noon or so on wednesday.
Thanks Tammy ;)
Hey Chet & Judy, give Jeff a hug from everyone on the FF ;D

Glad to hear your doing OK , best wishes and a speedy recovery
thought i would save some typing and post the note I sent to tom as answer to weather I hurt or had pump and pills.
---------
No pump. just some pills. My throat and rib cage are aboutas sore. I'll explain it later but they made me real sick. Knocked me out woke me up, nocked me out, woke me up and knocked me out again. All the anesthetic drugs have me screwed. Paralized bladder and bowls until just before I left. I threw up every 5 to 10 minutes for almost 4 hours AFTER having surgery. I think my doctor was pretty <edited :D> at the anesthetic guy. He made it clear to me I would have been home same day if not for him. That other guy came and checked on me 5 times!
Jeff, I'm glad it was only a bone spur. Your shoulder should be as good as new when it heals. Just be sure to do all the physical therapy. Shoulder surgeries are very painful, and I and a bunch of other forum members can vouch for that. I'm sorry to hear of all the problems you had with the anesthesiologist. Get his name and make sure he doesn't participate in any of your or your families surgeries again.
Glad to hear you are home and on the road to recovery. Take care.
Glad to hear you're home. Too bad about your anesthesiologist screwing up, they make far too much money to be making those sort of mistakes >:(
Good news that it was only a bone spur! Take it easy and enjoy all the special attention you will be getting for a while ;)
I agree that ice cream is probably the best med for you for at least a week or so. Mebbee Bro Noble will make up some real fresh home made stuff and have it FedXed to you :D
Get well soon Jeff!
Hang in there Jeff! I like the Ice Cream Therapy suggestion.
Sorry to hear about your troubles, 50% of all medical types graduated in the bottom half of their class >:(

Hey Chet & Judy, give Jeff a hug from everyone on the FF ;D
ElectricAl & Linda
Well, chet says no matter what I tell ya, he's going to deny it. :D I can tell you I got a hug from Judy. Chet says I was looking good so I know he was wanting to. :D
I'd deny, denying it, that I denied it. :D :D :D ;)
See what a hug can do ;D
It cheered the "Big Guy" right up 8)
Now had you of gone in and had surgery after sitting up with the pig all night in Aug you would have went to sleep as soon as you laid down. I still find it hard to believe that you could not get something down your throat. ;D I've seen you eat more then once. Maybe it was just you would not let go of the tube so they could have it back. ??? It is really to close to deer season to be messing with a shoulder. Glad to hear that it is getting better but milk it as long as you can.
ARKANSAWYER
Glad to hear it was only a bone spurand you are home on the road to recovery. 8)
Tom Averwater
Glad to hear you're OK.
Here's one of those "bet you didn't know" kind of things. An old skiing buddy of mine is a doctor, specifically an anethstesiologist? sp.
He told me to guess which doctors pay the highest amount of malpractice insurance premiums? Brain surgeon? Nope. The guy that gives you the gas. I think at the time 15-20 years ago he was paid $250,000 a year with $135,000 malpractice payments. He said it was an art and a science because everybody reacted to anethstetics differently. I guess you would be considered one of the tough ones to get it right.
Jeff,
great to hear you are back home and seem to be back on the job lookin after us all.
Thanks for all you have done personally and by way of the Forum.
Fast recovery - thinkin of you.
Jeff,
Glad to hear you are home. Here's to a speedy recovery.
I haven't been on your end of the surgery Jeff, but I've been in Wildflower's position. Last December 22nd, Cowboy Bob had a spur ground out in his shoulder too. He religiously followed the physical theraphy, and you would never know that he ever had a problem now! Take it easy and be kind to yourself! So glad you're home!
Anethesia is a tricky thing too. I've read in the newspaper once in awhile where someone didn't make it because of a reaction or something going wrong.
I'm glad the big guy is ok, cause we need him to help keep this place from falling apart. :) Heck, he even has to discipline me once in awhile. ;)
I started Physical Therapy today. Thats all I got strength left to say. :D
Well Big Guy,if you started PT today things must be going well. I know ,I know, easy for me to say ;D How is the throat coming along? Gotta get the gizzard fixed up ...holidays treats just around the corner! Hope things continue to heal quickly, and PT doesn't kill you ::)
Sandmar
"If we make it through December, everythings gonna be alright I know" ..Merle Haggard
If the PT has you worn out I hope the arm left operational can work the remote control for the idiot box OK.
You have to have something left to amuse the mind if it's not watching logs become lumber....... ;D
Hope your feeling better.
Hey Jeff,-
Glad your surgery is over and hope the upchuck stuff is too. Been there with the reaction to anesthsia. Not fun.
Are you getting to watch the white stuff fall from the sky today? I was in the basement online, walked up to get coffee and couldn't see across the road for all the snow in the rain. >:( I need to go cut firewood today >:( :'(
Get your strength back and glad it went less than expected.
hawby
Rain, wind and very mild here. You guys keep the white stuff over there. :D
Sorry to here about all the trouble but glad to know your doing better now. Do the PT and get well soon.
