Hello from the Detroit area smiley_wavy I just started my new hobby of re-finishing old chainsaws. My first saw is a Clinton D4-1 that I found in my grandpas basement.
After I was done (I forgot to take a picture with the new decals)

For the record, in doing research and buying a few parts on e-bay for this project, I bought a Clinton Chainsaw Service manual on ebay. It is about 4-5 inches thick, and has all the info on anything regarding Clinton chainsaws. It is the manual the service dealers all had on their shelves. I know that not every Clinton model is covered, but most are. So, if anyone needs any info on Clinton chainsaws, please let me know and I would be happy to help.
That looks good. 8) Welcome aboard. I have an IEL model HC from that era but it sure doesn't look nearly as nice.
Thanks! It was a lot of fun doing the rebuild, but definitely not worth the money. It was my first one, in honor of grandpa, so I didn't really care about the money (too much!). that horn-shaped muffler was $35 alone! It was way too cool to pass up though :D
Working on a Homelite XL-400 now. Last made in 1972.
Welcome to the forum. Good job!!

Welcome from Homie-country! Waiting to see & hear about your XL-400. Gotta be quieter than that Clinton.
Very cool.. :)
nice tidy job,well done
Nice work.
Nice job .You know one would think with that straight pipe that saw would be loud enough to wake the dead but that's not the case .
Strange as it might seem those old Clintons and also the saws that used AH 47 Power Products engines ran so slow they were not all that loud .Like 4500 RPM if they were lucky. Fact I've got a Clinton D-55 and it's not really loud .
Now then you take the muffler off that Homelite and it will be loud .
