Title: Winter logging is going ahead sort of
Post by: Quebecnewf on February 25, 2016, 05:00:50 AM
Well this winter has been a challenge  so far to say the least. The ice bridge was late forming. This caused us little delay has we had built a small logging cabin on the mainland for just that purpose.
Next problem very little snow. Made logging paths through woods and started cutting but could not haul any , too little snow.
We finally get a nice batch of snow and start work , temp goes up and we get a big rain storm. Snow all gone again. Temp drops down and we're back in the woods cutting and piling but no hauling , no snow.

Another batch of good wet snow and we're back hauling for a couple of days then rain again , Brook has flooded so wait again for freezing and snow . Got the snow again and back for two days but now we're back home with two days of rain coming.
We have around 345 logs it so far but it has been a challenge and more to come by the looks of it

Same here. One or two days of frozen road, then rain. Very discouraging.

Same thing here on the rock, not a blade of snow left and all the frost in the ground is gone.

Not a good winter for anyone that needs winter.  :)
