Title: HD2 vs PA filter
Post by: George Zarifis on March 24, 2016, 02:59:16 PM
I've heard that the HD2 air filter that comes with newer stihl saws is not a very good filter. Somebody suggested that I swap it as soon as possible for a PA filter. What's your opinion on that? ???

HD2 is a an excellent filter in extremely dusty conditions. And can do with less cleaning intervals.
But it has two major problems. If it were to get wet completely from fuel or water, it will become blocked 100%. If it is soaked with fuel (flooding in transit usually) you will need to soak it in a soap solution, wash it and then dry it. Pressurized air helps to speed up the drying.
I take it by 'PA' you mean a screen filter. Well, easier to clean and dry but easier for fine dust particles to pass. In an extremely dry environment the HD2 would be more preferable than the PA.

Was it for the machine talk or for the music?

Mainly for the machine talk. I only listen to classical music...
