Title: What is it?
Post by: Brad_bb on March 31, 2016, 06:37:03 PM
I found this in a farm fence row.  looks like it has a folding step.  I'm guessing that the handle on top raised or lowered the thing but is bent now and probably will not work.  It's heavily galvanized making me think it's not that old.

Probably a lifting jack for some farm machine . Used to transfer one machine to a running gear and remove it for another .  Like most conveniences it was used like it was not designed for and failed to perform like it was hoped for at the time it was last used.

No idea. Its not some kind of fence post jack for pulling metal posts or something is it?

I don't know.  That step folds up, and pivots down to about 45 degrees when the stops hit the post.  Why would a post jack have a step like that?  Additionally, the base is rather small compared to the top being much heavier metal.  I would think it would have a heavier base if it were a stand alone tool?  Also what is the big rectangular tube for on top?  I haven't found any pics on the interweb searching post jack, or fence post jack.

Has anyone see this exact thing before?  Or are ya'll just guessing?
