Title: Kiln Drying price - vacuum
Post by: Fedge on May 11, 2016, 08:52:10 AM
I just saw an add on Craigslist for someone selling vacuum kiln drying services. Price for 2" lumber was $1.00 bd/ft. Is that low/high or a just about right?

Depends upon the species.  If he will dry 2" white oak for a buck a board foot that's the deal of the month!

If he's charging that for 2" softwood, not so good of a deal.

I think I know who this is. He's a new customer. I'll give him some advice.

I agree with Den.  What is the green value and the the KD value of the wood?  If it is $500 different, then you charge about 50% of that for drying.  Etc.
